  • Great job :) Congratulations for the offical Steam release.

  • Done

  • Congragulations!...

  • Well done Scirra, great to see you guys get onto Steam.

How will you guys be handling releases on steam? You going to have an opt in beta? Or will it be for final releases only.

Also any plans to intergrate further, steam workshop for example.

  • What about steam overlay? Or publish to steam?

  • Well I assume they would have to put up Steam Workshop integration for "publish to Steam", unless you mean create a standalone executable that Steam would accept as an application to put on the marketplace. I assume the Awesomium wrapping would function for that.

I want to know if Steam would have x64-bit versions and Beta releases of Construct 2 in the future as well.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

Thndr we will not use Awesomium anymore

  • Ah, okay then.

You do still have the option to publish as a Offline PC app, but with a different method I assume? (not just Windows 8)

Edit: Did some google-fu. Moving to node-webkit it seems would be replacing Awesomium, right?

Edit2: beaten. Thanks for the quick replies ^__^

  • Thndr No, it's node-webkit

  • I had just planned on buying Construct finally to upgrade my free edition in the next few days when I saw this notice. Saving 15% would be nice I could take the wife out for a small lunch.

The main question I have tho is if i get the version from steam would I be able to use the beta versions somehow?

    Thanks.

  • was awesome to see this on steam today! Construct 2 baybeh!

  • Congrats Scirra <img src="smileys/smiley4.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

can't wait the news for steam keys for existing users <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • prinsukun - I was just thinking that! I would love to have my Construct 2 license on my Steam account. So easy fr when I set up my new PC - whenever I am able to afford one.

  • I'm sorry to use this topic to ask my question, but I really didn't want to open another one for it.

Does one of those versions (steam or scirra.com) have benefits the other version does not have?

I'm most definitely going to get a license in the coming days, but I need to make up my mind if it is going to be the steam-version, or the one directly from the creators.

If there is NO difference at all, is it maybe better to get the license from this website (directly from the source) so I can give my money directly to the creators?

  • Suro: As far as I know there's no difference apart from the fact that the version from the website is stand alone (you don't need to have the Steam client running to execute it).

In the end, it's pretty much down to your own preference.

I think that as far as buying a license the money goes to Scirra in the end whether you buy it from the store or from Steam.
