  • This is a small example where I used a solid object with solid and platform behavior to make an imitation of a box being pulled by pressing Z button or pushed by the player.

    I find this method good for setting different speed movement so you can basicaly more specify how fast the player shall move the object and can even push it down a cliff!

    Note: The platform behavior in boxs settings got the default controls turned off

    This is REALLY helpful.

    However, with this method I encountered a problem:

    If you have a push/pull animation that has multiple frames, it will be stuck on the first frame. From my point of view this is, because the function that calls the animation is executed the whole time, which causes the animation to start over again, always. This is also the case in your demo. Just add a few colored frames to the pull/push animation and you can see what I mean.

    Is there a clever way around this?

  • I actually had Jumping sfx in the game but because of the fact that you jump literally every second it was soon VERY annoying :/

  • I'd also bring this one to the attention of people who might be able to change it.

    While I'm not as helpful as Excal it feels kind of strange that I released my second game in the arcade. Yet, when I want to make a nicer link (aka. the banner of the share section of the game) it tells me that I need to get (like mentioned above) 500 reputation points.

    I'm here since about 2 month. Seeng that I'm more of a reader and searcher, rather than contributing (I have only 19 posts, not counting this one. I do contribute games though.), it really feels like I will never ever get those 500 points needed.

  • This is the march entry for the "One Game a Month" challenge.

    It's heavily inspired by Canabalt and done completely with pixelart from opengameart.org.

    Official 1.0 release is tomorrow, but since this is the Construct 2 home I thought it would be nice to have the initial premiere here.

    I actually haven't updated Newgrounds just yet since I want to go to the bottom of the "focus" problem first.

    the loading screen bug is new. I saw it happen on an older Mac Pro at the office, but dismissed it, since it was an old maschine with a not up to date Safari.

    I'll look into it!

    The space bar bug should be fixed now (thanks to theubie's help).

    I never experienced that bug before, so I'd need you to play it once more to see if it is still happening.

    (Newest Version should be 1.00e or higher, in the lower left corner).

    As for the focusing problem, theubie and I am still one it :)

    It seems like my game is the only one that has this problem on the arcade :D

    I feel special about it, but I also would like to fix it.

    So far I think I haven't forgot anything important, rather that I added something which overwrites the focus going back to the game once you click outside of it.

  • So gurrently my game is on newgrounds:

    Which is nice and all, but there is one little problem.

    As soon as I click outside to the canvas area, the game becomes completely unplayable.

    I noticed that other html5 games don't have this problem so I guess I missed something. Can someone tell me how to fix this?

    Sidenote:

    You can try it youself by starting the game, clicking OUTSIDE of the canvas and then tring to bring focus back to that game.

    If I for example take My Irrational Fear of Unicorns:

    this doesn't happen. So I take I really missed something.

  • The images files starting with "getr%C3%A4nkewagen" aren't loading. Either they're missing or the umlaut in the filename is causing a problem on your server.

    I just had a chat with Auston from clay.io and he basically said the same thing.

    It totally was the cause of all of this.

    I could seriously punch me for not noticing.

  • I forgot to mention something crucial, which I don't get at all:

    If I'm on Firefox, I can't change Layout to the actual game.

    If I'm on Safari the game crashes/freezes when the Stewardess object is created.

    If I'm on Chrome, everything runs fine, but the Stewardess is a big grey thingy.

    Funny enough, when I try it on Dropbox, it doesn't matter which browser or which computer, it runs totally perfect.

    I wonder if I need to change the access permission thing when uploading on my server...

    Why is it, that the same files I use for Scirra-Arcade and Dropbox work, but they won't work if I host it on my own server or on Newgrounds?

    The same thing happens when I try to publish it on Clay.io

    I give up. I got nothing more I can try.

  • I did a bit of trial and error and figured out it also happens on my own server:

    I now tried it on a different computer, and it seems I CAN change the layout.

    However, everytime the stewardess is running into the layout (I think right before the object is spawned) the game freezes and does nothing anymore.

    So the problem just moved a tad more to the back.

    I tried to upload "Clown on a plane" to newgrounds. I got invited and the system expects me to upload a ZIP file.

    On the board here I read that I just take the normal HTML5-page export, and zip the content.

    It "kinda" worked:

    The HTML5-preloader (for the graphic assets) does it's thing. After that my custom pre-loader is playing (for all the sounds). That also works.

    After that you get to the "Credits" and "Play Game".

    Checking out the Credits works just fine, but whenever I click on "Play Game" all that happens is that the Buttons dissapear. Both the Credits and the Game would be on a different layout. So in both cases it would need to go to a different layout.

    Can anybody tell me what is happening there? Do I even make sense with my description?

  • So this month game from the "One Game A Month" challenge was made with Contruct 2.

    I learned so much, especially how to do things BETTER than how I did things when I started doing them.
