• Facebook page, Twitter account, some landing page is a must for every serious game. In other situation you rely only on "random" users and keywords used in game title.

there is also some page - I don't remember it's URL - where you can make campaign to get followers in social media. So it's like KickStarter but for getting "fame" for your game/project/idea.

btw. can you check http://superubielanddemo.clay.io/ ? on my average notebook (AMD CPU+GPU, 8 GB Ram) it's not really smoth, even if I override GPU blacklist on chrome

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

but Excal is 100% right. If someone wants stable job with good salary and many job offers - then he should learn Unity. If someone wants just to try make game and check if he is lucky (i.e. to get enough profits from ads in mobile apps) - then Construct 2 is enough. But if his game fail, then sorry, but almost no one would like to hire C2 dev.

Excal I would move to Unity, but I'm too lazy for programming. I guess everyone would move to Unity if there would be something similar (easy) to event system, behaviors, touch plugin etc. etc. etc.

  • OK, you have won the internet

I will invest some money to make my 1st big game too.

fyi: my friend is testing AdMob interstititals and just after a few days he got CTR 6.5% and eCPM 7$, which is really, really good.

  • good point about iOS publishing options

good point about supporting github CocoonJS plugin

  • Ludei support sucks, there is no memory management, but at least APKs are not terrible big and as stated "Crosswalk isn't still enough for me to switch yet.. Mainly GPU blacklisting, (same app I can run on the same GPU at 60fps on CocoonJS)". For now the only hope are more experienced C2 users, who will update Ludei plugin.

Also it is worth to mention, that still, after months, there are no free ads for Crosswalk and new hope - PhoneGap - will be paid 9.99$ monthly if you create more than 1 app.

    Also I have silly question:

PhoneGap is the new hope for Scirra (previously it was CocoonJS, then Crosswalk) and it is based on Apache Cordova: http://cordova.apache.org/ So why Scirra does not build their own cloud compiler based on Apache Cordova too? It's rhetoric question, because I already know the answer

"Cocoonjs is a clunky exporter that scirra cannot control in any way possible"

not counting memory management issues, this clunky exporter is still better than Crosswalk. Yes or No?

the issue is that professional developers are using Unity. Why? Because they will get good exporters, ads etc. now.Without waiting months for CocoonJS, Crosswalk, Android L, iOS 8, Whatever 9

of course it is possible to make profitable games, but serious developers know about Construct 2 weak points

2013 - Scirra is waiting for CocoonJS improvements

early 2014 - Scirra is waiting for Crosswalk improvements

late 2014 - Scirra is waiting for iOS/Android improvements

  • Recently there is Microsoft + Intel invasion with cheap or medium priced tablets using Windows 8.1 (usually with 1280x800 display, 1/2 GB RAM) so my question is... what are monetization options for this system? Not counting selling apps, because that's quite obvious.

can you use Crosswalk with early version of your platformer game

and check if framerate / general feeling during i.e. scrolling

    is good enough?

  • do you use the latest version of Ludei plugin?

I was checking interstititals a few months ago, and the only issue I had were "portrait" ads showing in "landscape" game (and after clicking "X" CocoonJS was zooming-in layout). Of course I had selected "landscape" ads only in MoPub dashboard.

"2% Ad traffic will be shared, as return for the support and maintenance effort."

in that case there should be free plugin for Construct 2 too. To handle banners and interstitials.

  • yes, you can make some nice password for keystore,

and then sign all your apps with this keystore.

And put this keystore in some safe place (i.e. pendrive)

it's much efficient than having 10 different keystores

  • it's easier to use 1 keystore to sign all apps.

    I use JAVA_VERSION="1.7.0"

  • Does anyone actually tested Cranberry plugins with Crosswalk?

I'm curious about combo AdMob banner + AdMob Interstitials

or LeadBolt Alert + LeadBolt Interstitials

Not only about working (I guess that it's working), but potential eCPMs, click rate and so on.

  • I have leadbolt banner ads working using podes iframe plugin

and I have leadbolt interstitial and alert ads working using cranberrys plugins

what about AdMob banners and AdMob interstitials? (because of the highest fill rate)
