you can add CocoonJS plugin, then create MoPub account (ad mediation) and AdMob by Google (for mobile banner ads) but do not expect big money and big eCPMs. In normal situation (Java developers) AdMob is usually used only as a addon. So they get real money from other ad networks SDKs (AirPush, LeadBolt, TapContext, AdBuddiz...) and some $$$ from AdMob are just bonus.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • "No, it's not. Just because not many have managed to make a living with it yet, doesn't mean it's the fault of the tool"

C2 is great tool, that helps easily unleash creativity, but... what are the real monetization methods for C2?

    on AppStore you can sell apps but it needs investment (dev account + Mac + some test iPod/iPad/iPhone);

but what about Google? it has lots of users that are not willing to pay for anything - so you can put small AdMob banner via MoPub via CocoonJS. And that's all - what about native support for ads? Full screen? Interstititals? High eCPM stuff... (and adding other SDK via Eclipse to slow PhoneGap is not any solution, bc it's slow).

So from perspective of serious monetization methods - for now C2 is hobbyist tool. You can say that a few developers earns hundreds of $$$, but hey - look at download counter: over 639,000 C2 downloads... Over 639,000 downloads and no mobile ad network is treating C2 serious (= make plugin)? [I know that it is not the same league, but almost every ad network supports Unity and none supports C2, so Unity is seen as a professional tool and C2 is seen as a toy for kids?]

also issue of compilation: on Android you can use slow PhoneGap or put Ludei logo everywhere...

  • Off topic: I guess that in case of iOS apps we can use Ejecta OR CocoonJS, yes? and the main disadvantage of CocoonJS is Ludei logo?

  • PhoneGap compiles terrible slow apps and allow only 1 app for free. Comparing to CocoonJS it really, really sucks. So it's not solution.

I was messaging Ashley on this topic and I repeat again: there should be some NATIVE support for banner and full screen interstitials in C2. Let Scirra make deal with some ad network, take 10% of traffic, but DO SOMETHING.

If C2 is professional tool, then it should have serious monetization methods too.

  • in meantime prepare app description, make screenshots and so on

  • ok, another question (however I realise that only 1% C2 users do serious apps): is it possible to use any interstitial ads in C2? if yes - how and what company?

and it is ridiculous that now, just to put simple banner ad, we have to rely on 3 different services (CocoonJS, MoPub, i.e. AdMob)

  • As some of you may know: Google updated their Developer Program Policy, so now i.e. notification ads are banned. In my case (some old, simple Java apps) it means huge lost of income.

So I have question about free apps on Google Play: is there any more profitable / reliable method for Construct 2, than using MoPub with AdMob?

  • 1/ Make your app and export it to CocoonJS version [remember to add any ID to your app, like: com.twinsonian. ]

2/ Make account at CocoonJS and upload (compile) your project [again put ID to your app, set i.e. Stretch To Fill etc) 3/ You will get on your e-mail account link to compiled archive, there will be:

    • debug signed APK
    • release not signed APK

You copy debug signed APK (in normal situation it is use for testing purposes only), copy to your tablet and install (tablet will ask you if install app from other source and you have to agree)

Release not signed APK is for Google Play publishing, so you ignore it

    That's all

  • We hope that worker is fine now :)

  • "However due to licensing restrictions around the proprietary MPEG-4 AAC format, Construct 2 will only encode .m4a files on Windows 7 and newer. Users on Windows XP and Vista must encode .m4a files on their own. The file extension must be .m4a. Free encoders are available; try searching the web for an AAC encoder"

I have Win7 too, Premium or something, and it works fine

  • if I have any problems with sounds, then just use free WavePad Sound Editor and save sound file as PCM (wav) - works in 100% cases

  • Click on CocoonJS plugin properties

and in "Psychics engine" select "Standard web-based"

    That should help

Mortar Melon is done in C2? if yes, then wow + nice work

    <3 water melons :)

    firebelly

in the perfect world Scirra would have it's own compilation method, and also support all ad networks (like LeadBolt, AirPush, TapContext)...

but at least making games in C2 is easy (= usually you can focus on making game, not on fighting bugs/errors) and looks much better (at least for me) than GameSalad, GameMaker and so on

  • ok, thanks for reply

so I will just wait longer

(however on 'native' AdMob SDK I always got some clicks fast)

  • reply from TapContext:

We are tracking users requesting other platforms for development and those

platforms with highest request will cause our support developers to

dedicate time to officially support it. We currently offer support for

Eclipse and Intellij, as they are heavily used by most developers.
