Kinda like clone to Construct 2.

    +1

that's the best summary for meowing about 119$ C2 price

  • bump...

  • for years:

    di.fm/eurodance

  • Currently, you can't reproduce it. What crashes C2 now, won't crash C2 next time.

In my case C2 was ultra stable, but last 2-3 days I got many crash, even with 6-7 opened tabs. So for example: I open my project, change SpriteFont scale - and crash. Restart C2, do the same - and crash. Restart C2, do the same - and works :)

    anyway <3 Construct 2

  • question to all devs that already released app on iOS: can you prepare (together) tutorial about best iOS practices? i.e. how to handle different screen sizes, how to prepare this 'start' images, how to export C2 project (CocoonJS vs Ejecta) and so on? :)

    this is about Android only:

ok, I was too harsh for AdMob. Avg eCPM (for mine apps and friend apps) is 1-2$ eCPM, and this network provides best fillrates (because it's Google); anyway in worst case: 0,36 eCPM, in best case 3,55$

The other issues (in case of banners ads) are:

    • placement on banner matters (bottom gives huge boost over top; at least in case of portrait layout and mobiles)
    • clickability of app (more clicks user do in app = the more clicks on banner you get too)
    • type of app (kids make more clicks than adults).

In case of Java apps my friend usually get 3-6$ eCPM for appwalls, interstitials etc. and of course additionally $ from normal AdMob banners.

  • it's quite funny that almost 2 years later it is possible to get similar speed on Android phones and mobiles :) (with quad core CPUs and so on)

  • Of course, I think most people want to build an app in 2 days and complain about how you didn't get rich when you posted it on the android market, but I don't think that's how it works.

it's also about freedom. Not everyone wants to make terrible big app (willing to be 2nd Angry Birds) so those person should also have possibility to make money just like Java developers do (in case of Android: using effective mobile ad networks).

today if you make Android app in Java - you get 2-6$ eCPM (so 2-6$ per 1000 ads) from leading mobile ad networks; if you make same app in Construct 2 for Android - you will get up to 1-2$ eCPM from AdMob (via CocoonJS, via MoPub). So from this perspective (Android apps) it is toy for kids :(

  • In CocoonJS admin panel [ / Services / Ads ] there is place for "Fullscreen AdUnit" (served via MoPub)

    so my question is:

which ad network (from those mentioned in CocoonJS: AdColony, Chartboost, Greystripe, Yume, AdMob, InMobi, Millenial Media) gives fullscreen ads right away, with good fillrate and eCPM?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

send final version to Humble Bundle :)

  • Monetisation is a different topic really, but we are aware we could be doing more in this area and plan to do something about it soon. Our understanding is that it's easier to make money through IAP than through advertising, so that's what we'd be looking at first.

    sell apps = iOS

    IAP = iOS

    Android needs serious ads...

  • Money is in mobiles only for a select few top-developers. Combined with the massive piracy rate of mobile games it's hardly profitable unless you're one of the mentioned top-developers.

my friend (Java developer) does 3-4000 USD on free apps, monthly,

    his friend do the same,

another his friend - 15,000 USD monthly

    another: 10,000 USD monthly

all on free apps with banners, full screen ads, interstitials

    and so on

there are no free meals in this world [unless someone live in North Korea concentration camp] and making games (or apps) is about making money. Of course it is nice to be 15 years old and make first app for family&friends, that will have 10-50 installs, but that's not enough for real life. 100% of Java developers do apps for money so why Construct 2 should be worse? So as I said many times: Scirra should make deal with some mobile ad network and make possible real monetization methods. Because now real money is in mobiles.

  • I'm young Construct 2 developer (which is HTML5 / JavaScript workflow) living in Thailand. I have 1,5+ years experience on Google Play and - previously - 4 years general IT experience (web projects). I'm open to any opportunities, including changing location (Hong Kong, Cambodia, Malaysia). I'm also very creative and practical.
