  • I guess that it doesn't work with Cocoon.io?

  • I would prefer to see Full HD games made in C2 running stable at 60 fps

  • In theory interstitials (full screen ads) should give you more money.

However in the real world only 1 thing matters: where are your players from?

1000 interstitials showed in 1st world (USA, Canada...) can give you 2-3$ (or more)

1000 interstitials showed in 3rd world (Asia...) can give you 0.2-0.3$

  • What if app/game makers has ruined the industry?

In the past you need more efforts but your game had 100 competitors.

Now you can make simple game in 1 week but your game has i.e. 100.000 competitors.

Anyway I prefer to pay 50$ for 1 serious game (like i.e. Witcher 3) than play 50 x 0.99$ craps.

  • A few months ago there was someone who said that he will do native exporter or something.

How does it ended? I don't remember

  • megatronx Jayjay Demetari

but Ashley said that he already saw some Crosswalk games running in 60fps...

I didn't know that Intel has only 1% I thought that i.e. Asus Zenphones are more popular.

yes, I forgot about SlowWalk, tfu, Crosswalk

If you use Unity you know that Unity devs take care not only about SDK but also about native exporters. If you use C2 you have nice editor but Scirra takes 0 responsibility about how your game will run on desktop and mobile. So if you have i.e. low performance on good computer then you can only submit/star bug on Chromium bug forum. And wait a few months for solution.

As far as I remember developer of Airscape had lots of performance problems and there is somewhere demo of his game. You can Google it.

  • You should export your app via Cordova

and see which one is better.

Just remember that Cocoon.io is still in beta

    and supports only ARM

Crosswalk is slow and big but supports ARM and Intel

  • [quote:2dvrtptq]i've spent over 14 years in programming( c,c++,c#, JS, Java and more)

With such experience you should join Scirra dev team.

    I'm serious

[quote:1lzkra4f]If HTML5 will be perfect - literally native-grade - within say 2 years, why bother taking a detour now?

It's nice that Scirra is earning money on technology that might be reliable after next 2 years, but you should also ask yourself one question: Would you risk to sell C2 made game, i.e. exported to desktop or Crosswalk, knowing that you can't do anything IF your customers will have problems with your game? And that they will i.e. laugh at you and give 1-star reviews hearing excuses like "We can't fix this problem now, please wait a few months for Chromium team..."?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • On Android you can use slow+big Crosswalk or faster+smaller (but still in BETA) Cocoon.io; and you have to remember that your apps will use only 1 core from your CPU.

I don't know how it is with GameMaker: Studio but if you will have any problems (i.e. tragic performance) then you will hear advices like "Wait for Chromium bugfixing", "Wait for Crosswalk bugfixing" rather than serious support.

Personal License - 129.99$ (and I guess that most users use this one) - one time

Education License - 49.99$ monthly or 359.99$ yearly

so... from business point of view it's perfectly logical that Scirra does not care about native exporters. Why bother if bigger money (monthly/yearly) is from education subscriptions? Also making native exporter means more programmers = higher monthly costs = less profit = high risk.

And Ashley is right that at some point HTML5 browsers/wrappers will be good enough. So people can wait months/years
