  • Anywhere I can find a video of a mid-range (under $250 unlocked) android device spitting out 60fps/1080p/1,000s of sprites in the context of an actual C2 game exported with the current crosswalk stable(CW10)? Because really, I would love to believe this is possible, but I just don't. Then again, I've been wrong before...

I would like to see Flappy Bird clone in 60 fps, perfectly 100% smooth in Crosswalk:

3 sprites is not too much, I think...

  • It is not far, but it requires more work than expected. The main problem we are facing now it that we are moving to Cordova. And we are testing what implies to export C2 using Cordova for Canvas+ and the Atomic Plugins. So far, C2 requires jQuery. Canvas+ does not support it yet. That is why is taking some time.

    thanks for update,

so is it matter of weeks or months?

    I mean: Atomic Plugins + C2 + Cloud service

[quote:162q53bl]I'm frustrated too, and I can see this comes at a bad time after all the nonsense with CocoonJS

C2 apps works smooth on iOS thanks to ludei

C2 apps works much better than Crosswalk on Android thanks to ludei

so maybe it's good time to make peace agreement with company that helps so much to C2 devs?

you should understand that people are using CocoonJS not because they are Ludei's fanboys,

but maybe they have no alternative? [ just to mention @Egyptoon case ]

uhm. At least now no more serious devs will treat C2 serious. Especially when nothing really changed: 1-2 years ago we have heard exactly the same excuses like we are hearing now.

We have to accept reality where Ashley do only what is comfortable for him. And we have to accept Scirra's business model: 2-3 person company and money from kids and education + ignore serious devs and taking responsability.

And yes - someday HTML5 situation might be perfect. But now is now. Some people have to pay bills now, not in 2016, 2017 or 2018.

Thanks for update on C2 vs. desktop situation.

I think that you made a great game and it's really shame (but not your fault) that we can't play it smooth even on medium desktop computers.

    Jayjay

can you imagine serious game developer explaining to his investors:

"Our game is 100% ready, but we have to wait 3-4 months for one bug fixing... maybe 6 months... but not more than 12 months... Google will do that sooner or later... they have thousands of programists... and billions of dollars... let's have hope in Google"

    ?

    I can't

That's why I guess that 80% C2 users are just kids / will never release anything serious / learn C2 at school (C2 for education) / will do only ultra-simple stuff

and Ashley knows that. So he can wait.

And we can only beg for help from Chromium / Crosswalk / Ludei teams.

  • Everyone was crying for us to develop a new desktop exporter when NW.js had a v-sync bug. As far as I can tell, it's now fixed, and I haven't seen any other demands for a native desktop exporter since.

    is it true?

[quote:qrugi1ld]In the space of a year or however long it would take, any temporary issues would almost certainly be fixed.

    1+ year

  • 1) Canvas+ is for Android

    WebView+ is for iOS

Canvas+ is good (faster than Crosswalk)

and WebView+ is very smooth (I didn't check but did )

    2) Recently I didn't experience audio problems on Android app

    3) C2 loader is not visible in CocoonJS, but there was some post with information how can you fix it (so players will see loading bar or percentage); we could ask Ashley to fix it, but we all know the answer <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

    4) You should remember that loading images on mobiles is slower than on PC. So it is important to optimize size of images (i.e. remove not neccessary images, change resolution) = you can save a few seconds of loading time.

    5) The biggest issue is that now you can use only MoPub for ads. And MoPub means low fillrate and NO backfill from AdSense. So you will get #$#$$jsg@# fillrate and $#@#@# eCPM.

    HOWEVER...

there are Atomic Plugins made by Ludei, but you can't use them yet in ludei cloud service. Ludei told that they are still working on updating their cloud service.

When they will do that (= native AdMob in Canvas+ / WebView+) then CocoonJS will shine like a star

    Usable links:

    https://github.com/ludei/Construct-2-plugin

    https://github.com/ludei/atomic-plugins-c2

Summing up: you can release your game without bigger problems (I think so) but we are still waiting for native ads...

  • They have access to the source, commit bug fixes, and features to Chromium. So overall, yes of course they can fix bugs.

    so there are chances for smooth [ https://code.google.com/p/chromium/issu ... ?id=422000 ] games? That's nice <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

    p.s.

maybe Crosswalk team can share experience with author of gles.js?

    http://tmtg.net/glesjs/

  • imaffett

but let's make it clear: Crosswalk team can't fix Chromium bugs. Yes?

  • Egyptoon

Ashley said many times that he will do nothing about exporters, so C2 devs can only push Intel/Crosswalk, so they will push Chromium team Unfortunetly Chromium is normal browser = in practice they not really care about HTML5 gaming and they have thousands other bugs to fix.

    Noga

I'm still waiting for Atomic plugins in Ludei Cloud Service. CocoonJS is not perfect, but at least high fps gives good feeling. In Crosswalk I see jittering even with high fps.

  • Egyptoon

but as you can see - even on powerful mobile I can't play very simple C2 game at 60 fps, 100% smooth, 0 jitters with Crosswalk.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Can you try the test on your device? See this post

    Alcatel One Touch Flash - 8 core MediaTek MT6592M - Android 4.4

    CW7 - webgl - min. 56 - max. 59 - avg. 57.84

    CW10 - webgl - min. 51 - max. 59 - avg. 56.25

    CW11 - webgl - min. 54 - max. 59 - avg. 57.50

    CW12 - webgl - min. 57 - max. 59 - avg. 58.17

    CW7 = 1 jitter per pipe

    CW10-12 = 2-3 jitters per pipe

CW12 has avg. FPS better than CW7 but CW7 in practice works better

anyway it only proves that CW7 can run game with 1 simple sprite and pipes with bullet behavior (I guess). It would be nice to see something with more objects, behaviors and so on.

  • Egyptoon

I see results of your tests and I want to cry. OMG...
