Thank you so much for your review!

Yes, the game is somehow similar to games like Dota 2 and LoL, but in 2D

You have to kill minions + the enemy and try to push to the enemy base to win. Many things are still in work of course.

    To the graphics:

I also thought about the pixel size, but I got so little time so I just scaled all sprites <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_biggrin.gif" alt=":D" title="Very Happy">

When the game is in a higher state I will obviously take some time on the graphics! And thank you for your tips!

    No problem.

You have the basics of a good game down. Lots of animated things, lots of things that are non-game like that background and fine details.

I use an application called Blender. In the time it takes me to make a walk-cycle with a sprite in a 2D application, I can have a 3D model rigged, and ready to rock and roll.

It teaks a little time to learn blender, but the results are worth it. Once you get the hotkeys down the application is actually quite easy to use. The hotkeys are relitive in the compositor, so you can use the same skills to edit ,and composit video, or just mix samples together, and talk like a tough guy and make that "Hippy hop" music the kids love.

It even has a text editor! (syntax hilighted too 8) )

Slices and dices models, in a fraction of a second. It is also a very powerful vacuum cleaner apperently from the song it was named after .https://youtu.be/aaZTSDfT1o4

Well anyway, to do the pixel scale changes I mentioned for your game would only take a few minutes, rather than having to start from scratch.

    Give it a go:

  • Nice artwork. You got a +1 from me a few days ago!

Do you hand paint your sprites, or are you pre-rendering them? I really like the oil paint sort of look the artillery pieces have. The terrain and bushes look pretty cool too!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Neat, you are using Mixamo.com to advertise your rendering application? Why not include their own rendering and modeling application?

    http://store.steampowered.com/app/257400/

It is also free, and ports directly into Blender, Unity, Photoshop, Illustrator and Maya. (lots of other 2d 2.5d, and 3D applications as well.)

Even better, it allows you to tweak the models, to make a unique character!

The people who make (Adobe) Photoshop bought Mixamo, and FUSE a long time ago. They offer some other newer solutions to character creation, rendering and animation.

  • Yeah!

Blender exports .png, .JPG, .MP4, .OGG, .TXT, and .obj too!

    Amazing application.

  • I was about to report a broken game, but it finally loaded. You may want some sort of load screen to acknowledge that whatever site is hosting the game is actually responding to the requests.

Is this like a Dota 2 game? it looks interesting but I have no clue on how to play this sort of game. Maybe some sort of tutorial, or a help system?

About the artwork, You need to watch the scale of the pixels. You should go for a nice consistent size and stick with it. In construct 2 not all of the tiles need to be the same dimensions, so for the bigger static objects you should use a higher resolution.

For example Quake, the 3D game, has a pixel scale of 1 pixel to an imperial inch. The scale of the textures on the models, and on the walls all reflect this, and give Quake a very consistent look.

TV monitors only had 1 size of pixel, so for a "retro" look you should keep the scales uniform. A quick fix is to use the Scirra "pixelate" filter on everything so that the pixels all match the same scale exactly.

Besides that, the game looks interesting. I like how much detail you put into the scenes. And I like all of the animated things you made. I also like the color pallet you used.

Keep up the good work. Looking nice 8)

    I have a logitech G106.

Numpad 3 needs to be mashed, and the layout of the side function buttons always throws my keyboarding position off by 1 key to the right.

The best one I have ever owned came with an old DELL XPS system. It was just a plain 101 mechanical keyboard with DELL stamped on it. It has survived 15 years of heavy abuse.

I am about to throw this Logitech game keyboard against the wall and go back to the old dell. The keyclicks, and the cushioning at the end of the keystroke make it a really great keyboard.

My Alienware Alpha came with a non-mechanical "Gaming keyboard" too, it is like those $5 ones you get from wal-mart. Alienware seems to think it was a "over $100" value. I should have gotten the Xbox controller instead.

  • After I modeled and animated a character in Blender, why would I port it to your application just to render it? Is there something you offer that Blender or Maya dose not?

  • Problem Description

Added "." and "_" to filename

    Steps to Reproduce Bug

    • Add said characters to any project.

    Observed Result

Run-time error, and image folder never gets written.

    Expected Result

Some sort of warning that I am being an idiot, and naming the file with invalid characters.

    Operating System and Service Pack

    Windows 10, newest.

    Thanks!

  • Thanks to the years of video game console lock-in with certain titles like "Gears of War", and "Halo" This Microsoft customer is looking for a much better platform that is OPEN. (Cant make a windows version?!?!? Is windows not a Microsoft product?)

Microsoft has been poison to the internet with their unpatched browsers for years. They have killed industry in the united states, and the simple fact that their controllers will not work WITH THEIR OWN BROWSER, makes me want to hit the cap-locks key and yell: "HELL NO!" The way web developers had to cater to internet explorer 6 by not using .PNG, and using the .GIF format, is completely absurd. (Seriously?!?!? this is crap from CompuServe before they reformed into America Online (AOL) in the 1980's)

I look forward to our new lord and saviors for gaming on the PC: Valve and Gabn!

After they break the Direct X lock-in with Vulcan, there will be absolutely no reason to pay the "Micro$oft tax". PC vendors will be able to offer their gaming computers at a $100 discount in the USA. SteamOS needs a lot of work, but it is totally worth it to see this dinosaur, and menace to computing finally extinguished.

    Burn Microsoft, burn.

    Sincerly:

Guy who has been booting Microsoft garbage on his computers since the days of D.O.S. 3.5 on a floppy disk.

Ashley we need another voting option under no: "f#$%# NO!", I would much rather develop for Sony.

  • I have been a victim of pay-pal in many instances. For one reason or another, they insist it is NOT MY MONEY. I have to jump through hoops, wait, and sometimes they even let clients outright rob me with false refund claims.

I just found a great way to say f----k off to Pay-Pal. Bitcoin is nothing new, but finding a bank in my location to cash it in is next to impossible. They will NOT verify bitcoin in my area for direct deposit into my account for "national security reasons".

Now there is an awesome way i can get my money, and spend it online, or grab cash at any ATM, without waiting.

Behold, The awesomeness of the worlds first Bitcoin Debit card:

    https://www.shiftpayments.com/faq

When you get payed it is now YOUR money. Refunds will be decided by YOU weather the claim is bogus or not, not some automated Pay-pay bot.

    Have fun, happy holidays.

  • > Wouldn't putting it into array be the best option?

    > Using a dictionary object would work too, but these kind of things scream array..

    >

    How would you do this?

I tried placing the value into an array but the array also jumbles the number.

Sounds like the array size is not set. There is a set size action. Try using it on-start.

If you dont set the size properly, it can get really messy. Remember it is 0 based.

  • Try this for your conversion:

    http://www.imagemagick.org/script/index.php

Then make a batch file with the command:

    convert -background none %1 %1.png

You can drag and drop entire folders of SVG images onto that batch file for the PNG conversion.

  • Well, i did not make the opacity change or the blur in my first example, i fixed it :

    https://mega.nz/#!0UJyyJJK!JyIBtlZHgcv3 ... dcjOnR0N9g

basically i just change a copy of the sprite to black, Scale it a little bit, and reduce the opacity,

  • You need to build a state machiene : https://www.scirra.com/tutorials/1139/h ... e-machines

Then you can add conditions to change the states like LittleStain is suggesting.

If you dont, then at some points your character will be trying to do more than 1 thing at a time, and it will make the animations stop completely.

  • Use set at X,y to load the array.

You need to setup the array first so it has enough slots for your purpose.
