  • I don't think mobile support would be their main asset. I'm just happy to see that they optimized the HTML5 editor for mobile as well. Will I develop full games with it on my phone? Nope. But it's a nice to have feature nevertheless.

  • A full scale sequencer with sound creation, yes would be out of question, but I think a competent programmer might be able to implement a simple 4 / 8 track mod tracker / player c2/c3 plugin with some oldschool chip tune samples. That would certainly be in the spirit of retro 2d.

It might be, but Construct isn't just for retro 2D games.

blurymind Thank you for the URLs.

    As it stands.

Currently fusion 2.5's event sheet is clunkier than construct's, but previews of fusion 3 show that clickteam is working hard to make the event sheet and code reusal way better than construct's current design.

Can you show me how are they trying to make it better? For what I've heard they'll keep the old event system. I was surprised by that, but if they do remake, I'd take a look at how they plan on doing so.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

Once your subscription period ends - you can no longer edit your projects if they were made in construct 3

As far as I know (correct me if I'm wrong) that hasn't been cleared yet. We only know that we'll have full access till the next billing is due. That can mean we'll have some limited access after that (for example not being able to access the cloud, only local files). I'm just speculating of course, but they did say that they don't want to hold our projects hostage.

  • Well, Scirra always looks into the future and so far it's paid off in my opinion. We'll yet to see the new editor to know whether it's too soon to put a complete game development environment into the browser or not. I saw some software running on browser technologies well (Atom for example) so I'm looking forward to see C3 in action.

  • As far as I know C3 is started due to limitations in the original editor which prevented some new functionality to be integrated into it. We still don't know many things about C3, so I think the question posed in the topic title will be only relevant after Scirra revealed all of it's cards.

  • I think accepting donations would fall into the "making money" category. So you'll need a license for that. But if you want to be absolutely sure, contact Scirra directly with your question at this address:

  • I suggest you wait with that purchase. Let's see what Scirra has to offer in the business licenses topic for C3. You might get a future discount if you wait a little.

  • At first I didn't notice but yes, I think it can be hard to see which one is a top level event and what's a sub event if you have lots of them.

I think we can ask for those lines to be back. Or to have an option in the properties to enable them if there's not one already that we don't know yet.

  • Why not take the same approach to using cheat tools without scripting to make games at all? Learn c# for 2d.

C#? Don't be a noob. Assembly is the way to go.
