This topic is polite not ranting. The reason the topics go into fights is people like the ones you see in this topic who start fights instead of answering questions.

That's why I said I'm not talking about this topic. I edited my post to answer your questions the best way I could.

Inzodgames Scirra stated that they will support C2 in the future. However we can't expect them to do it forever (when we'll be 80 years old for ex.). Every software has an expiration date, but I think C2 still has a long way to go before reaching that point.

On Monday we'll get the next update. Hopefully the Community will calm down by that time and can think more clearly. I'm not saying I don't understand why so many of you are upset, but ranting in topics won't bring us forward (I'm not talking about anyone, or about this topic, but in general). Polite, well thought suggestions could and I'm sure Scirra is more keen to think about those posts.

1 - I don't think so, since C3 uses the same runtime as C2. But I think we can hope for some smart optimizations.

2 - I'm not sure how it can make it any easier. But I'm positive that it will make it more convenient.

3 - Probably.

4 - I think this is a must have feature today. So I think we can expect that.

While Scirra stated that you won't be able to edit your projects after the subscription ends, I hope they reconsider ethanpil 's suggestion. I think that would be the best solution. I want to pay Scirra for a software that deserves it, but I also like to own in some manner what I purchased. There has been examples posted by the Community in the C3 section of software that does it that way and the users are satisfied. On the other hand Scirra would have to find a suitable DRM for C3 to let users install the downloaded version after the subscription ended, but still being able to block the possible pirated copies.

Can the free version of C2 and C3 be used for education if the features it provides are sufficient after the change, or a subscription will be required for class use?

It's too early to tell. But I don't think so. C3 is a completely new editor, which just looks very similar to C2. I think a lot has changed under the hood. We'll see soon I guess.
