  • "the System should create a new sprite when x occurs"

The condition is when "X" occurs, and "X" needs to be checked first, before you create the new sprite. So you need a condition first.

  • In the project tab, on the right, if you right click on a layout or on the layout menu title, you will get options to add a new layout, or to clone the layout you have selected.

What you have done to remove the border/X is taken the caption box off, the option is a tick box in the properties tab when you have your project selected. You can also use Alt+F4.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Once you have the level looking how you want, order the player to the top of the z order. You could also make separate layers, one for the backgrounds, one for the player.

Also, using method 2 is a good idea. You can also clone layouts, and then rearrange things within the new ones.

  • It will probably come down to two things. Either the animation is looped, or needs to be looped, or you are constantly setting the animation.

checks Key is down - set animation walk

checks Key is down - set animation walk

checks Key is down - set animation walk

checks Key is down - set animation walk

checks Key is down - set animation walk

checks Key is down - set animation walk

Each time the run time hits the event it sets the animation again so you would only see the first frame or so.

So there are a few ideas, see how you go, if you have any trouble post your cap and I will take a look.

  • There is an event inside the platform behaviour tab within the event editor called "set invert input" which you will need to trigger when you flip the gravity.

  • Try flipping the order.

    Instead of -

    Trigger once

    Counter equal to 20

    • Play lighting.wav

    Try -

    Counter equal to 20

    Trigger once

    • Play lighting.wav
  • Yup, takes an event. You will need a trigger of some sort, such as clicking on a menu button or all ghosts are dead. Then the action you are looking for is under system, there are a bunch of options for changing layout. Hope that helps.

  • Sorry Tulamide, my reply wasn't directed at you in any nasty way, and I didn't mean to come off as arrogant. It was honest happiness, and excitement that the features I was interested in, and more(small icons) were there all along.

I don't mean to be such a burden. I know you have helped me a lot, and I am very grateful for the time you do give me.

  • Most of these things are done in the project tab, which by default is on the right hand side.

To add a new level you right click on the layouts title and select 'add layout' Or click on an layout you want to duplicate and select 'clone layout'.

A menu is just another layout, so you would make another one, move it to the top of the list(so it executes first) and add in some buttons that will change the layout.

And for fullscreen you need to click on 'application 1' in the project tab(top right) then look at the 'properties' tab on the right, there is a lot of options here, and one is a tick box for fullscreen.

  • Oh my, you CAN order it alphabetically. You need to click inside the object window. Oh man, AND you can make the Icons small!

  • Why have you used 'light' objects for the oil?

  • Tulamide - Oh. I don't know how useful z-sorting the objects list is for you, but it really doesn't have any functional use for me, and I can't really think of one, considering all instances are at different z-orders anyway.

Simul810 - Very good point, I have got some objects named well like that, but definitely a way around the mess.

Ashley - I do use the search box, it is most definitely a help finding objects.

Arima+ROJOhound - Bingo, so it is in there Good to know, I have not really ventured into the project tab beyond layouts, events sheets and globals, so I will investigate this.

So it seems grouping the event objects is in already.

Still think a different ordering on the object list would be infinitely more helpful than Z ordering however!

I don't really like making these posts, but being on the other side of the world from the rest of the Scirra user base I can hardly catch anyone awake in Chat. Not to mention the wealth of information that is laid down in the forum will be there for when I need to search for a refresher further down the track.
