  • Congratulations

    Thank you bro

this is the perfect example that if you have the right idea at the right time you can have success with a non programmer tool like Construct 2(like Freddy's Night and Multimedia Fusion) and i'm really happy for you, i played the game and i like it, just maybe make the graphic more interesting in the number 2, really like the all the mood btw, go with the flow !

Thx Vittora! I must admit - the gfx just couldn't be better. That's due to size limit on those portals. They are actually 256/128 size, stretched to fullscreen. But due to pixelish style of the game I've managed to get away with it. That's why for Antumbra I am going HdReady/1280x720. And that's it'll be for desktops. So I can work in peace and do not worry about shitty compatibility on browsers and the size limits.

Awesome! Is this your first game or did you make others?

First FINISHED game. I've been playing with game development on and off for past 10 years so I am not exactly a greenhorn. But due to real life - I've never managed to finish even one project Antumbra is the first, that got both finished and published. That's why I find it soo incredibly amazing that it receive such a warm welcome and high ratings. Its very inspiring and motivating. Oh and its actually my first Adventure game I ever made or tried to produce. I am a huge fan of the genre but as we all know - Adventure games due to its structure (lack of replayability, to put it bluntly) are not very popular or profitable to produce. They take a lot of time and you'll be earning a lot more with something arcadish or casual. That's why the whole genre is at the edge of extinction. They are just not worth the time VS other kinds of games.

Awesome! I love hearing success stories. Very inspiring! I shall check out the horror.

    Thank you! Please do so!

    awesome work

    Thank you kindly Abdal! <3

  • Its incredible how the situation evolved in those 2 weeks.

From being scared to publish, to having some nasty negative feedback, to slowly catching success. Then the first frontpage, on Newshounds. Numbers of reviews growing drastically with each day. Top 10 at IndieDB, and eventually - #1 spot. Antumbra catching more wind in its sails. Then frontpage on Gamejolt. Dozens of youtubers recording their Lets Plays for Antumbra. #8th spot in monthly competition at Kongregate. Then Markiplier playing Antumbra. Hundreds of thousands players watching and admiring the game. Dozens of thousands coming in to play by themselves. Requests after requests... For Antumbra 2 to be made into reality. And now I am days from starting IndieGoGo campaign. And all of that happened, in less then 3 weeks.

This is.... mindblowing. You don't hear about such stories in real. Sure, we watch them - but in movies and books. Not in reality. And even if so - they always tend to happens to someone else... And here I am. Standing in awe. Watching my dreams coming true. Quoting a line, from one of the greatest Sci-Fi movies in our history...

"They should have sent a poet..."

  • Okey now this is madness. Markiplier did a Lets Play video for Antumbra. Yes, THIS Markiplier. My hands are shaking like never before. And I don't know what to say. And as un-manly as it sounds... My eyes are dripping wet.

  • So guess what got #1 out of 25k games in ranking at IndieDB today =)

  • Nice!

    Thank you Angel

On kongregate have you used your own host?

Nah just uploaded to their servers. Sadly i cannot afford my own hosting for now

  • Wohow! Just got feature on Newgrounds at the frontpage!

  • Hiii. If you haven't heard already - the game I was working on, past couple of weeks is finaly finished and published. So far over 4500 people played it. Maybe you can be the 4501? <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_e_smile.gif" alt=":)" title="Smile">

I've also managed to achieve something like this:

If you would like to give it a try, you can play the game on:

  • I know its kind of a necroposting but the thing have not changed.

Newgrounds is tops Kongregate in all areas. Yet it is Kongregate which has an official C2 intergration.

I wish Dev team could finaly make an official Newgrounds API plugin.

  • Hiiii! is the plugin up to date?

  • The game is almost done. All GFX are in place. All SFX and ambient added. Coding done. Just need to some final polish and bugfixing and i am done. Also, i finaly have a logo

  • I remember the days of playing Zork games. Looks nice, grim and creepy.

Actually Zork Nemezis and ZM: Grand Inquisition were one of the strongest inspiration.

Hi5 mate! Not many people remember those.

  • Hi guys. A week or less ago i started working on this oddball. To not just copy/paste the info - have a read here:

    https://www.facebook.com/DroneLockerOfficial

    Some screenshots:

The game is a very weird/crazy blend of different adventure game styles. You have some point'n'click, some quick time events, some arcade elements, a lot of horror and reflex based events, puzzles and riddles. All made in a very disturbing and surreal setting. I took inspiration from classic like Darkseed, Zork Nemesis or Dreams to Reality. With a strong grim and insane coating.

I am not making this with money in mind. It's more of a hobby project. Something to keep me sane, in this dark times. The game is hard. Damn hard. And it won't get any easier ever. So I imagine most of people will never finish it.

Funny fact - the whole idea for the game came from a funny situation. A friend of my who is a very talented but rookie graphic artist, was thinking about a game that would showcast her skills and talents. So I suggested Graphical Novel. She didn't knew this genre and I had a hard time finding a proper example around the web. So I made a prototype of such game myself to show here how it looks and smells.

Few days later I've found myself still working on the thing and I grow attached to my creation.

And here I am here, still developing this piece of madness. I have no plan, not script. I make stuff on the way, I let them come to me naturally. I just swim with the current, curious where it'll lead me. To be honest, when the game does hints some sort of story - even I don't know how it will all end. Its also the first time I develop an adventure game and I must say it's quite pleasant. Most of the time I design some sort of RPGs or games with RPG elements, which from the name tend to be complex. This kind of adventure game feels so simple in comparison. A breath of fresh air.

I don't know how long it'll take me to finish this thing. Probably a week from now, maybe two.

    Kudos.

The "load from url" action is not instant so you can't paste right away. You either would have to do it after a wait or under TiledBg's "on image url loaded" condition.

Ahhh terribly sorry for that Rojo. I rarely use gfx loading from outside so i keep forgeting.

    All works perfectly now.

  • R0J0hound

    I have a problem.

I use TiledBG. I load the gfx to TiledBG from loose project files, then i try to paste updated TiledBG into Paster and it pasts not the updated image (gotten from "load from URL" action) but the original before the load/update.

Same thing happends when i try to use your Canvas plugin instead of paster.

And the whole reason behind this is trying to find a workaround of this:
