  • I don't have the anwser, all I can give you is this link that I found recently about methods indie game developers use to market their games.

(Find a niche and share your game with people in this niche that have nothing to do with game making)

I'm not an experimented dev and I have never sold any games but I think that an audience for your game is more important than getting your game on steam.

  • If you want many people playing your game, this is not the right place. The arcade is more an hosting platform than a way to get an audience.

But in my opinion, yes you should upload a new version and hide the old one. Some people browsing the arcade could discover your game (the improved and better version)

  • You should do something about the waiting time at the start of the game, it is long...

I think that your characters are too tiny but it's a good start as a first game!

Maybe a zoom or a smaller canvas/screen size to improve the playing experience.

  • It works with the Buttons condition 'On clicked'. If you want to use the Touch condition 'On tap' you can use a sprite instead of a Button object.

  • Hey littleredpanda, I like pandas too

My avatar right now is a famous smuggler who owns a famous ship in a famous saga. (His best friend is a wookie.)

  • A quick feedback, the shadow effect is great and gives a 3D impression but don't you think that the walls and the shadows should have different colors?

You could add a little arrow on the screen borders indicating the key then then end(s) directions. Or a kind of compass in a HUD.

  • It reminds me the first GTA, you have a good base for something.

"steal back what rightfully should belong to you" all the people in this town stomped on Rapscallion and that's why he steals everybody?

Do you plan to add vehicles and will it be different levels or an open map like GTA?

  • You can use the pin function to do this. You have the hull of your ship then you pin all the other parts on it.

    construct 2 manual

    Subscribe to Construct videos now

You pin different objects to your ship hull, each object can have different HP.

For the multiplayer part I don't know but I think that it should work.

(Edit I was ninjad but there are links if you need.)

  • Iron Kiss

(if you have a gamejolt account you can earn up to 15 trophies)

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • The game is now finished!

I tried to attract people from gamejolt by advertising the Gamejolt EXP you can earn but it was ineffective.

It took 6 months with interruptions to make this game, I personally don't want to spend more than a year to make a little game like this. I could improve the graphics and add more mechanics but I have like 20 different game ideas that are waiting to be done and I want to start working on a new game, I learned a lot doing this game with construct 2 and I still could work on this game but it’s time to put it in the finished game list.

I read somewhere that finishing a game is a skill, this is the second game I release. The first one was simple, I hope that the third one will be even better.

Thanks to the people who helped me in the process of making this game.

If you have a question about something related to this game, don't hesitate.

Have fun playing it! (Playtime 30 min if you're good)

  • I didn't have any lag, the game is nice and requires skill.

(The reset button didn't work but this isn't really a problem and the 3rd art style you can choose isn't there)

    The leaderboard is already full

  • What I mean is.. With Iframe you can use wikipedia as a tool integrated in a layout, under a button action or whatever..

As an example.. The game geopolitical simulator 4 uses wikipedia as a tool. When you are about to add a new law or change a specific.. The game gives you the option to search for that concept on wikipedia as a tool in order to know more about it

Cool, I quickly searched for info, pics or videos showing the use of wikipedia in this game but I didn't find any.

I won't use wikipedia in a game for now, thanks anyway.

  • Before you want to sell your game you have to finish it and you need people to be aware that he exists.

-The Arcade can be used to host your work in progress, you can ask and get feedback from people browsing the Arcade.

-You can do small games and host them on the Arcade to show people browsing the Arcade your style and the quality of your games.

-You can host a demo of your game to attract people to your game.

-The arcade doesn't have ads, people who don't like ads will play your game on the Arcade for this reason.

Or you want to share a good game that you have done without thinking about the $2 you will earn in 5 years thanks to the ads

(you won't be able to really earn this money because there will be a minimum $25 requested to get paid)

Personally I have tried the Arcade but I had a bug with the musics and when I updated the game it didn't update.

I removed my game and made it gamejolt exclusive without ads. (If one of my game attracts thousands of players I will think about the ads of course )

And I like when the player can earn trophies , you can't with the Arcade right now.

  • Thanks eveloid for your input, I was looking more for feedback about the concept. I guess the conclusion is that you shouldn't expect too much work from the player, it could be a niche game for people who likes to spend time searching for clues or people who really likes history/geography. (Or it can be used for educational games)

If you had to read a read book to finish uncharted it would be a different game.
