  • You can do a game jam, there will be the Bad Box Art challenge on gamejolt starting the 24 march. (ends the 27 march)

You can find a cause you want to make people aware of with a game. this game is about chicken food

Or you can do a space shooter in one week, with 3 levels and a final boss. Put a version available on the web, the scirra Arcade for example.

You won't earn money, nobody will play it but you will have a finished game.

Repeat the steps 100 times and Hideo Kojima will call you to ask advice for the Metal Gear space shooter for the Iphone 85.

  • I like this nice little bit 8-bit narrative and exploring an interesting active community that you get to try to figure out. It also reminds me of movies / games where the protagonist moves quietly amongst a stratified environment, but when they break with the convention of the society, the community erupts into chaos, perhaps against the protagonist. Perhaps a meter of suspicion directed towards you based on your behavior could add another interesting element to the game.

It's a good idea you have there!

There is a meter implemented but I don't know what to do with it (the blue bar on the Inventory screenshot).

The player can't die and can't lost, it's a peaceful ballad but he can mess things up, perhaps a chaos meter to show the state of the tower.

    Thanks for your feedback.

  • Hey this is great. I really like the concept and the graphics and animations are fun too. I already want to know whats at the top.

    Thanks, this is encouraging.

  • Hi, welcome to this devlog.

    Tower Zero

is a platformer/adventure game where you solve puzzles and use an elevator to climb a strange dystopian tower.

There is something at the top that the player needs to see.

    Level

It's like a free environment, once you have unlocked a floor you can go back if needed.

There are 24 floors and each floors have 3 rooms. The 'tower' is like a city with diferent sections.

    Inventory

The player must pick up objects and use them when a bubble asks for this object. This will activate an event or solve a puzzle. The player can carry up to 16 objects, he needs to use one if he's full and wants to pick up a new one.

    Interaction

The player could have to activate panels but the puzzles are based on objects.

    Gameplay

The player will have to renember which floor is what when he needs a special object he couldn't carry with him. Or if he finds an object to solve a puzzle he saw before.

It's more an experiment than a game, an exploration game like when you observe an ant nest.

    Marketing

I posted a devlog page on gamejolt to attract people who are curious about the game.

I will post gifs on twitter with hashtags and a link to the gamejolt page. A nice pixel gif often attracts some curious.

I could find an audience in the dystopian area but I'm not good with marketing and I don't like it, you know what I mean.

    So what?

I wanted to make the 10 first floors free as a browser game demo then sell the game but I don't want to have trouble with the nw.js desktop export. I don't know how I will monetize it if I do.

Follow my journey into making this game before 2018 and selling one copy to a stranger.

  • And yes it works now!

  • This is where apples come from.

  • I've played on pc and had no problem, the nitro/jump to pass a car is a good idea you could improve or it's just me who is really bad at this. (Finished 4/8, I was stuck with a pickup on a pickup.)

The car positions and how you do it is good, it's not a race simulator and you don't need to have the 8 cars visible at the start. You could add a text with your position during the race and use the penalties system for this.

The warning signs are tiny and I played quickly the first time, maybe someone else paying more attention will notice them.

It's a quick game where you want to feel the 400 Horsepower while exploding things on your way, this is how I see it. You could add a blur effect on the background based on your speed, points when you destroy things and the outscale effect based on your speed like in earn to die.

  • This is cool, I understood that it was a race when I was lucky enough to finish one game.

It reminds me a checkpoint game where you move a car across zombies, Earn to die

Maybe an inspiration, I like your mad max graphics.

    Some suggestions:

-Remove the collision with other cars (impossible to pass the cars during the race) -Increase the view in front of the car -Guns on the car to shoot the opponent in front of us is needed -More things to destroy: wood installations, crates, signs, walls, cactus -Add a warning sign before the cliff jumps

    Keep up the good work.

  • Try Construct 3

  • My last post was weird, what I wanted to say is that you could adapt your prototype to something else. You already mentioned Planet Coaster and a mobile version of Rollercoaster Tycoon.

There aren't many games where you manage an hospital and the abandonware page has 81 comments, I think that the tycoon niche is popular but the Rollercoaster niche may be difficult to enter. Rollercoaster is like Zoo, Hotel or Space station.

You SHOULD continue but maybe with another theme. I'm not saying that you have to do the Hospital theme but it was an original idea.

  • Don't forget Theme Hospital, http://www.myabandonware.com/game/theme-hospital-2ek

It's now an abandonware, I really enjoyed playing this game.

    Could be done using C2.

Can you link the article which states this please ?

And that gamejolt dmca notice just proves my point. Fan games get shut down and that's about it.

It was just my thoughs, you don't want someone earning money or attracting people by "using" something you created.

It can be an homage like all the FNAF clones on gamejolt but big companies don't care about homages, homage doesn't bring money.

Never heard of the guy who created Mario and Sonic Adventures?

His house was burned, his wife left with the kids, aliens kidnapped him and threw him into a black hole.

Don't earn money with fan games.

  • On the scirra youtube channel there is a video showing how to make a dress-up game with construct 2.

    Here

    Maybe this can help you.
