  • This is a game that I have been working and that I am submitting as my final for a game design class.

It's far from done, but it works lol.

Here is the link to download it (but beware, it's 28 megs!)

    Controls:

    Arrow Keys- Move/Duck

    Shift- Jump

    Control- Attack

Esc- Emergency Quit (for when platform acts ups)

    Known Issues/Bugs:

Spanky can reappear on other sides of platforms if you frantically mash the buttons. (no idea why)

Spanky's death animation can appear upside down.

Spanky can be hurt when jumping on enemy (this has been quite a pain to solve.)

    Spanky's attack animation is incomplete

  • Thanks Deadeye! The community needs some great tutorials for new peoples, and this example is high quality stuff!

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • LOL the playstation RPG Maker, oh boy those were the days...

    That thing was terrible!

Anyways, as you know, making an rpg can be a very time consuming process, and it can be very complicated, depending on how you want the battle system to work, leveling, inventory, ect. I suggest to start with smaller mini rpgs to build yourself up. If you're new to Construct, you'll feel a bit overwhelmed with all the issues you'll come across, not to mention learning a new program trying to make a massive, complex game.

But we're always here to help of course! I wish you luck!

  • oh boy I sees a lonely topic and I try to helps! But the cap has some error on load

  • Confixulations guys! Now you have much more works to do!! lol

  • Thanks everyone, I am good for now!

  • Hullo! I have a game due for my game design class this Friday, and wanted some feedback before I finish it.

If you want to test it out, please provide your email or mail me at midnight_aaron at yahoo.com

    thank you come again!

  • Yeha I know that moving it isn't the problem, I was just suggesting using detectors on all four sides to check is movement was legal. That's a good idea though setting a UID for each of the sprites.

I think there's something about this question that confuses us all lol

  • My first approach would be to use detectors on the four sides of the villager, and if they want to move, it has to check if the detector is over a obstacle (house, rock, person, ect.)

    This thread explains it better:

I dunno, maybe it'll work with that method?

  • Wow very cool looking game! I love the animation, it is very smooth! The title screen's menu blurs into the background, since it's only basically black and brown, so maybe you should brighten the menu (start game and such) a bit. The presentation was very professional, I do worry that without some in-game control explanations, it may be a bit confusing for some players, b/c there's a lot of actions you can perform.

I'm curious to see more of this game in action! I give it the Midnight seal of quality!

  • Wow that's perfect! Good idea going with lines, me feel so dum!

    Thanks again Ashely! Bless you!!

  • I'm trying to simulate rain with particles, but the effect looks more like snow...

Special effects have never really been my strong point you see lol

Could anyone give me some pointers?

...and yes I've seen the almighty rain demo

  • I know one problem:

    bad link LOLOL

  • That cap only has one layout, the one where you pick your character lol

Do you have the sprite that indicates the player selected set on global?

  • Hi Mr.Cactus!

How about you post your cap so i can takes a look!
