  • Thanks! What you said makes sense. I didn't expect it to behave that way, when you refresh the page - I guess it takes the game from the browsers cache? I expected it to load it 'as new' when refreshed. I suppose that's why closing en reopening the incognito browser works for trying to load the game again. As it automatically cleares cache?

  • Hello,

    This thing has been bugging me a long time now.

    Sometimes it loads from 'scratch' and at other times, my custom loading screen/bar is instantly at 100% and stays there forever. While it should normally load in chunks and you actually normally see it loading that way.

    Here's how the loading event sheet looks like:

    In incognito browser the same thing occurs.

    Everything's set - Settings:

    First layout: Loader

    Use loader layout: Yes

    Loader style: Nothing

    Preload sounds: No

    Sometimes I try again changing some of the settings but then I don't see any change.

    Other times you press, F5, or ctrl+F5 and it works, other times it doesn't help.

    I get this problem when previewing from C3, but also when I uploaded the game online and checked it in my browser. Even tried incognito, it works the first time, but if you hit F5 it will be stuck forever as well.

    The only that helps is closing the browser, or at least for incognito and load it up again.

    Is there something with my PC, or does anyelse experience this? Might not even be related to C3..?

    I use Google Chrome by the way.

  • Exactly. It's 'encouragement'. Commercial encouragement. Imagine someone wants to pay monthly for the freedom, but also to make it easier to pay. Instead of paying one big bill it's sliced. Which is easier to afford to many. But right now you're being r'ed off for wanting that option. I can't believe you're defending this.

  • You are right, it's a new option. Recently bought a yearly subscription.

    But the monthly is 50% more expensive!! I barely see any justification for that price difference.

    It's not amusing to see Scirra become more and more of a 'commercial' business. I wonder if they'll ever raise the yearly price as well.

  • I have another suggestion regarding Searching the event sheets.

    How about you make the Search result box minimizable? That would be SO handy.

    Also, how about a 'double search'? E.g. You would be able to search for an object, but also an action or condition. If I need to search for the object 'PlayerCar' and want to know where I stored a condition 'PlayerCar.Y = ...' now ofcourse I could type it in directly, but I just mean the option to 'filter' your search results.

    For example a search box for 'Objects', 'Conditions', 'Actions' sort of like that. It's easy to forget where you set certain actions, and if you type in 'PlayerCar' I also get other results, usually a really like, and also the DOUBLE amount of results, since it also searches actions, everything.

    Could use some sort of filter here!

    P.S. Some feedback on suggestions and the 'bugs' I posted would be nice.. are they being fixed?

  • In the Sprite editor, CTRL + F doesn't mirror the sprite horizontally, but it mirrors it vertically! CTRL + M is doing the opposite as well.

    Also, PLEASE make it possible to mirror a selection of sprites. Same for rotation, etc. A 'Mirror selection' in the dropdown should do it. I can't believe this is not already added, this is simple stuff!

    I asked this before I think, but here it is anyway; please also add a button to update/reload the sprites. For this, also make a 'Update selection'! These things are a pain in the butt to do manually.

    Also, if you press F5 or the button to test, and you click the tab away because sometimes you wanted to choose Debug instead of preview only, so you quickly click the tab away, but hitting any of the preview buttons won't work anymore until you completely reload C3 in the browser. C'mon guys..

    Honestly I didn't expect these simple things weren't already added and fixed after three years of C3.

  • Will this be featured sometime? It's a pain to update everything by hand, requires you to reset many things!

  • mekonbekon Hey! It's kinda hard to get in touch using Discord. I often just forget to start it up, when I do, it doesn't seem to send out any notifications when someone left a message. Perhaps there's a better way of communication, although I'm not sure what you prefer? If you're still interested, of course. :)

  • OK, so I don't really understand this game.

    The directional keys functionality makes it really hard to move and aim at the same time.

    So I destroyed a ship, then went on to type the word. I was close enough to the word rock.

    I typed directly, or am I not supposed to do that, am I to click something first?

    I went closer to the rock, hit it, and it was immediately game over! Perhaps make it more forgiving.

    Also, the audio effects. The explosion sound is too loud compared to the firing sound. Could give anyone a heart attack, so try to 'level' the sounds out so they are all around the same volume.

    Also, use a different font, like on the buttons, the explanatory text, etc. Try make it look more professional.

  • Hey, I just checked some gameplay from the game you mentioned on Youtube.

    You are right - games don't have to look great to be fun and a success.

    I guess, it's just that I don't really like the graphics style you have going. The graphics from that game 'Baba is You' I somehow find more.. acceptable.

    I mean, you can really see that you put effort into your graphics, I just think it doesn't look right for the amount of detail that you are going for. Maybe it's because they are just out of proportion, and the colors are just out of place, or that the layered gradient look is giving me a wrong vibe, I don't know.

    But hey, then again this might just be what you were going for. Add to it that I am a perfectionist, and often don't even feel like my own work is 'perfect' enough! Heh, there's always room for improvement.

    Anyway I hope I wasn't too blunt with my feedback.

  • Hey, thanks for replying.

    The Clouds layers has the same parallax settings as the others, 100%x100%. No unusual settings.

    Turns out it I had 'Set angle' turned on. It flips the sprites. Sometimes one even forgets to uncheck the simplest of things! :)

    Also.. is there any way to see the 'direction' of the sprite in the Editor? I know C2 also had a sprite handle for that?

    Perhaps a bit off-topic, how do I refresh images in a sprite? That button also disappeared!

  • OK, I highly recommend upgrading the graphics set. From A to Z really.

    Comic Sans and Times New Roman are also one of those 'no no' fonts. I suppose the concept could be fun. But in my case, a game also needs to look visually impressive in order for me to want to play it.

    If you want to get sales, or get a lot of them, the game needs to look the part.

  • Did you test it on an iPhone? I know Apple has restrictions on this.

    The user is required to at least touch the screen once before audio is activated.

    Don't know if the same applies to the ads though.

    I can't figure out why this is happening.

    The debug mode displays the correct and same Y positions as in the Editor.

    But visually, it's displaying the sprites incorrectly.

    I did a few things.. I cloned the sprites and resized them. The image points are all in the middle.

    I use 'scale outer' although other settings show the same problem.

    Also, the wrong sprites are being displayed when I preview the game, as if it somehow switched it around or as if it's 'starting' in another time e.g. 5 seconds later. It also takes a few seconds before the preview starts when pressing the button?

    I'd say there's probably a 20 pixel difference in Y position for all of them.

    The clouds have bullet behavior set to -20.

    I'm not even touching the Y with this code:
