EpicRaid's Forum Posts

  • Hey guys,

I found some topics for thumbsticks here on the forum, but I'm actually looking for one where the player object has 'ease' (I think that's what it's called) movement. Like in real life, a car can't do a 180 degrees 'flip' when you move the direction of the thumbstick opposite.

So basically, I'm looking for that thumbstick code with the moving and static part, but where the player object moves like a car with a say, minimum turning circle. So it doesn't steer around its own centerpoint. If that's possible of course.

Hopefully I got my point across, I'm not sure how else to explain it.

This is the template I use in C3: howtoconstructdemos.com/virtual-thumbstick-to-control-a-character-with-8-direction-behaviour-capx

Maybe there are simpler versions somewhere, and for C3. Well, if you can help me out that'd be great!

  • You can jump on vertical surfaces (like in the Mega Man X series).

Ah, okay, yeah, he is a human. He's wearing a bear skin, but I guess that's not as obvious as I'd hoped. His eyes are showing through the bear's mouth.

Yeah I tried to doublejump, but still I couldn't reach it!

  • Looks nice, it's just that I couldn't get past the second tree with the hole. I understand I have to go through it, but I just can't reach it no matter what I try.

Also, I personally would prefer to look like a human being (or sorta like) just like the first NPC. Right now it looks like I'm playing a tiny devil, or is that a mask or something?

I just love the art style. How did you create it like that, made from scratch, or did you adapt existing imagery? It looks mighty fine.

I would definitely make the video more clear as to what the game is about. I thought it was about street brawling, like some sort of Street Fighter game only with limited fighting. It did give the idea of depth, with dialogue and all. But I mean, give us more details as to the goal of the game, stuff to be excited about, show us some more mechanics or action! Definitely add some more explanatory text/lines with that.

The 'Rocky' vibe theme is also a nice touch. Your game is probably still a WIP, I think you've got the game covered, just don't let up on the marketing! Good luck!

  • Hilareous game. Not something I would personally play or download, but certainly something original and funny. This looks like the kind of mobile game you'd see Youtubers laughing about. And I mean in a positive way.

  • Sorry for the delay!

Hey thanks! I added you on Discord!

    lionz

I believe I also added you! Cya there!

  • Your games look pretty good that you made on your own though :D you should post at least discord or something, having a conversation on the forums isn't the best use of them.

Hey thanks! Yeah I'm kindof a perfectionist, and try my best to make games look professional as well.

lionz I see you've got quite a lot of forum posts under your belt. I'll bet you're an experienced programmer! If you want, we can get in touch.

Allright, I will add my discord here: Rudolf#0658

    Thanks!

  • Hi there!

I've been working on C2 and C3 games for a while now. I've started many projects; some finished, many not. I did learn a lot, but when it comes to programming, loops and math are my achilles' heel.

I've got many game ideas, most of them are casual (mobile) games. I'd like to create action, driving, strategy, simulation and tycoon-like games. I really like the color rich 'vector/cartoon' style. Basically, a project should be fun to make AND marketable.

    Portfolio sample

    Here's a portion of games I've created:

The games can also be played of course, I can send you the links personally.

    Who I'm looking for

I'm looking for an experienced programmer, well, basically someone who can program better than me. My part could be game ideas, graphics, audio, and level design. I don't create audio myself, but I do feel like I know what fits in a game. Would be nice if you're tidy when it comes to programming.

I'm in timezone GTM+1, Netherlands. Time to work together I've got plenty, since I work a parttime job. :)

If you're interested, just post here. I'd love to see some of your work as well, you can link to your work here, or alternatively through Discord: Rudolf#0658 We can start with creating games for publishers. And who knows, eventually become filthy rich!

  • Hello!

I do understand that there are plenty of companies like softgames, spilgames etc. who may license your game. Then, those companies allow game portals to publish them on their site for free, where it should generate advertisement income.

But are there also companies who buy HTML5 games and do something else with them? Like a sports brand for example like Nike, and use it for promotional compaigns? Or what are any other reasons to buy HTML5 games? How common is it for this to happen compared to 'regular' licensing like the game portal concept?

I'm trying to get a grip on who the people are that buy HTML5 games, and what exactly it is that THEY do to make money with them. It would give me a better understanding of this market and process.

I mean, what about html5games.com? They seem to sell licenses directly. But why would any company buy from there?

Just looking for some information aside from what I can think of myself.

    Thanks!

  • That's an old Phone.

Heh, depends on what you call old I guess, late 2018 released. Thanks for posting. :)

  • I dunno I should post it here or not, One thing I noticed on my phone (having a giant notch, akin to iPhone X), The quick access buttons (and score) seems to appear behind the notch (Check the attached image) Maybe you should put that bit lower.

(I dunno why but I unable to upload any image file may be a bug thus used gifyu.com)

I wouldn't expect that to happen either.. that's an oddly shaped phone screen :P But I guess it's the new thing now, better keep it in the back of our minds when creating games. Is that an iPhone X or what model?

  • I just noticed - in one C3 project of mine I noticed I can still use the actions and events to create functions. Why is that? This is what I was initially confused about. The objects are visibly added, both built-in and normal.

  • Functions no longer show as an object - you can add a function by right-clicking on an empty space of the event sheet and selecting "Add function".

Thanks :) I was already wondering what happened to it.

Ashley - I may very well have missed that post, as I wasn't using C3 back then, still on C2.

  • I can't find the Function Object anymore. It doesn't show the object when trying to call it or create one. I can't add it to the project, because the icon is not there!

I've no idea what happened, I'm using C3 R188, but the current stable release isn't displaying it either. Neither of the normal or built-in functions are showing. It doesn't matter if I try incognito or the free version or with a new project.

Probably I'm doing something wrong, or did something get messed up with my browser?

    Thanks.
