  • I'm also missing badges - I've been here for a over year - no badge for that. I've done way more than 9-10 updates in a row. More like 20ish. Although it states I have 2 badges for 3 updates in a row, then I have one for 10 - you'd need 3 badges for 3 updates in a row to be able to hit 10...etc etc.

I'm missing some rep to say the least.

first box works until layout reset, second box doesn't work.

    Expected result:

first box shows counter, second box says "this is working"

    Confirmed working in previous revision.

  • That's an ipad 2. I have one, game doesn't work at all. Your OS must be up to date, mine hasn't been updated at all. It's only used for netflix and kids games. I'll have to read up on the last iOS update and see if they added webGL support to safari/iOS. Thanks for getting me the specs and thanks again!!

Blacksmith I'm excited to get back to my game now too. The sled section is going to be cool now! I want to try to figure out how to do jumps, might just make an angled sprite to fake it.

Also realized split screen isn't needed for 2plr on this part of the game. Better to compete for the coins on the screen instead of both having a set. I could just zoom out if they get far apart.

I Can't wait to get started on the art for the bosses here either. End of the game boss will rick this way!!!

  • There aren't any controls programmed for the ipad/mobile yet. And what magical super version of the ipad do you have? I have a Mini,a 2 and an iphone 5. All have a purple screen when I run it and then safari crashes... Mind you they're all jail broken and probably no longer up to date for that reason.

And thanks for the compliment/and for testing!!

  • Blacksmith thanks! I Can probably cut back on some of the gfx and tighten up the code still and getting working better on older machines.

breackzin It was supposed to be a two-player co-op game... I'm not too sure if c2/html5/this engine will handle that happening but since it is split screen, I could cut the sprite scale height by half if it's top and bottom split screen and that would take the strain off of the engine.

RandomExile Thank you very much! Good to hear it worked on the laptop!

So in the other engine I have the Giant head type enemy with rocks spinning around it like it has gravity... or whatever. You can shoot the rocks until they break and then shoot the boss. Next up, coding the giant snake style boss!!

Can't wait to get this stuff tweaked over into my engine! Once this other engine is done I'll do the full update to Go!Go!Maddi! Shouldn't be much longer!

    Thanks again guys!!

  • Bootcamp is the best way to go. The mac is using the same hardware as a windows pc now. I have 2 macs, both have bootcamp. I have windows 7 on one and xp on the other. No issues running any windows software that way.

  • jayderyu Thanks - I was kind of shocked to get the speed I'm getting. I was totally under the impression that this was going to crash and burn after a few sprites went on screen.

KaMiZoTo I'm attempting to get that kind of a look. But maybe a little less bare - Space Harrier hardly had anything on the screen.

Blacksmith Thanks for testing and thanks for the feed back as well (that goes for all of you too)! Outrun ran on the same arcade system I believe. I always have a hard time believing that those games were mid 80s... Seemed ahead of their time. On your old pc, what browser did you use?

Thanks again guys!! I've been plugging away at the other version of the engine. I'm lacking sprite skew. I thought the mode7 sprite could handle it but the angles go all out of whack and aren't controlled easily enough to bother with. I've coded pretty much the exact feel of the Space Harrier controls in the other engine. I'll probably keep it a little looser on Go!Go!Maddi! The auto center drove me nuts...

  • I've been using the mode7 plugin on sprites to warp them a bit. Still needs work with the pseudo 3d engine though as getting the angles right is a bit tricky.

  • Jayjay I was going to tell you where you can put that StarFox cart... but I've changed my mind ;) Seriously never got into that series until it was on the Cube and had the 3rd person adventure junk to it. And all the while I really just wanted a real remake of Conker... not the censored XBOX one either.

  • Kcpunk666 Thanks!!

mochakingup Thanks!! It wont work on pads and phones - webgl :( And the other engine is only my coding and nothing else so it's not mine to show. If I get spare time on the weekend I'll make some additions to my version of the engine and show off enemies etc. Put in a less crappy sky too haha!

The actual game will get an update by the end of June with this and a few new levels. I started the platform level for stage 3-1 and stage 3-2 was supposed to be the 3d sled escape (picture the sled scene in the movie Willow)!

  • My Top 10 fav retro games of all time here in no particular order:

    Ghosts n Goblins (Arcade)

    Ghouls n Ghosts (Arcade)

    Castlevania (NES)

Dracula X Rondo of Blood (TurboDuo)

    Final Fight (Arcade)

    Robocop (Arcade)

    Rastan (Arcade)

    Splatterhouse (Arcade)

    Ninja Gaiden 2 (NES)

    Sunset Riders (Arcade)

Although I do like the ports of these games, they aren't in my top favorites due to overall changes or "game destroyed due to hardware sucks" issues.

Gauntlet is a favorite but not top 10 for me. Not enough color and speed for my caffeinated brain anymore.

I might be from the 70's but I never cared for Atari aside of a few games. I was an Intellivision kid. Burger Time and Tron Deadly Discs get an honorable mention for that system. I still play them on the real hardware!

  • I +69 this!! Would be very useful in my boss fights. The movements eventually get out of whack because I cant reset sine.

  • Like the title says. Working on an engine for another member. The other is more advanced at the moment but I've tossed this together a few nights ago. The other engine is capable of more at than this at the moment but I'm more worried about how computers that aren't mine are going to handle this!

So this is a background only but playable with fire button (X) tech demo to show that it's working. I need some feed back on how well it's working on other machines. Also going to test it on my pads and phones (not playable but will run).

So as usual thanks in advance for helping out and here is the link!

Not the floor isn't a giant mode7 tile but mode7 was used to get the sprite skew effect :O

*This is all thanks to that tutorial that was posted - I could do everything but get the angles right due to my designer level math skills!!! ;)

    Cheers!!

  • velcroJoe Thanks! I think I'll be picking this back up again very soon. The ideas I had for the winter levels need to get out of my head so I can concentrate on my other project so I think there will be a new up date in the next few weeks. I was going to switch to C2 for the project but I think I'll keep it CC as I like the over all feel of it better.

There is a c2 version which is almost on par with the cc version and I've recently been working with another dev and have the space harrier style level working but I like the way it looks in c2 better still.

There is going to be a tobogganing part in the game and I want it to look as awesome as I can make it!

  • OrangeTapioca Better to be safe than sorry! Although stage 2 should be pretty tight, stage 3 was so open it could have problems in a million places. Stages 4-6 are tight though.
