Very interesting! Something about the walk cycle looks a bit off though. I love your new avatar! It was a "dog gone shame" when newt sent his pup to the pound. I'm glad you "aint nothin but a hound dog!"

Thank you very much for the compliments on my game. I just navigated over there and I see its starting to get more plays. It was not intended as a game in the beginning. I wanted to throw as much stuff into a file as possible, to see how much it could handle before the frame rate started tanking. Then the game just grew out of it. It was actually able to handle quite a bit more than I expected (for PC).

I'm really liking your game! You wrote the music too! I like it great retro feel. I also really dig the simplicity of your design.

I went to your game, and didn't notice the gaps you described (I'm on a PC). The speed seemed fine. I really like the way you set up the parallax. However this has me very curious. I've read in other forum posts (I think Arima mentioned it), that "over draw" will cause things to slow down. I can't remember exactly how she described it technically, but I was wondering if having too many parallax layers contributes to over draw.

  • Awesome! Thanks.

Why do I get the feeling there is a big Gator or Crock lurking in those waters? Great work Rockwell. I imagine it will preform well for you, as you have done such a great job of making so much "more" out of "less".

  • Holy Cow! its been way to long since I've checked out this thread. I'm trying to play a little catch up. But man, I had to chime right in with kudos on this image you posted...

Brilliant use of color, shapes, and style. I absolutely love it. Bravo.

Now I got to go pour me a cup of coffee and catch up on some more of the other new creations in this thread.

Welcome to the family! I think there will be plenty of help around here to help you place a giant smile on your children's face. You have inspired me to want to try an interactive book type app. I'm also thinking about making a little music video off of a little whimsical song I wrote last weekend. I made my first little slideshow app the other day, so I'll probably build off of that. I know I too will be seeking help here, as I have been having troubles with sounds in FF.

Good luck with your new book!

  • I'm having the same problem except in reverse. I've done a few forum searches and have come up dry. Chrome is working, yet Firefox is not.

I also checked the ff forums and couldn't find a solution.

    Awesome! Thanks, both of you!

  • I keep closing it and it just keeps coming back. Is there any way to block it? Can it be smaller? It takes up about a fifth of my screen.

  • The damn thing has me really pissed off actually. I don't mind seeing the ad a time or two, but popping up on every page throughout the forums has me extremely annoyed. Is there any way to disable it?

  • It is not disappearing off the screen for me. Its where you have it in the editor. I'm not certain whats happening. but did you try the anchor behavior?

  • I tend to explore the games with the most plays. I have never trusted our type of rating system. I just figure the best games are going to get the most plays. Might not hurt to do away with our ratings system all together.

  • Whiteclaws,

Someone needs to apologize for your rudeness. I'm not following you around, as these threads are for everyone, but I really feel sorry for the people you take your rage out on. So yes, until you tone it down and grow up a bit. I'll be on your ass like white on rice! You ARE not a moderator of these forums!

I had trouble with the load. Got the intro screen and sound, but after that all went black, yet the music still played. I do not know if anyone else here has experienced this. I notice with a few other games in the arcade as well.
