Best car suspension with spring effect and very cool terrain generation.
  • The best "free" pixel painting software I have used is Artweaver. Its a Photoshop/Painter mix.

    And, Inkscape, for vector drawing.

  • Once I tried Graphics Gale I never looked back. :] Everything in it feels so intuitive and natural for pixel work.

Never really got into GIMP that much. Paint.net is a nice one to use, and I recently downloaded PaintTool SAI, which is turning out to be really fun for general artwork.

  • Dropbox. It is not image/sound tool but it is great if you are working with your Construct projects , in diferent places, and for sharing files, here for example, with direct links. Really usefull.

Is it still out there somewhere for download?

Yup, just have to get right here through TurboSquid. I honestly can't stand the program, though. Too many problems came from that tool while I was trying to mod Jedi Academy.

  • problems? as i remember it's like 3d studio max ripoff...well i don't remember having problems with any of them.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

max wasn't a ripoff, it was made by the same people, it was just a barebones version geared towards 3D game modelling, and as such, you couldn't render things in it, so it wouldn't be much use for 2D graphics.

I use 3dsmax and Adobe Photoshop for graphics, Cool Edit Pro or Soundforge for sound effects. These are all things I learned back in college, earlier versions like, so I've just always felt comfortable with these. Although my college was pretty crap, the tutors didn't know much, most of us ended up teaching ourselves, 3dsmax especially.

  • yeah i know what gmax was (i mean that''s was 3d studio but not so Max at all in capabilitys )

i'm using 3d studio for over 12 years (almost all versions of it) and gmax was specificly made as a simple tool for low-poly game modeling, texturing and animation...and that's it, but still liked it

This program is epic win. I can even almost draw in it.

  • Best free icon editor is icofx

  • Oh, hey, that Artweaver is portable! Now if I could get Construct to be portable, I'd slap the lot onto my USB stick and merrily go about!

  • Here's a couple tools I've found useful:

    • SFXR: The best tool for making your own 8bit sound effects for video games. Highly recommended, if 8bit sound effects are what you're after. And it's free.
    • Audacity: Sound editing software. It's good, but not great. Then again, it's free. Oh, and open-source.

SFXR is opensource; has anyone thought to integrate it into Construct?

Requires the gimp tool kit. Perhaps if Construct ever goes to a multi platform build.

Dont know if they would want to use GTK tho, its starting to show its age.
