  • hmm tempting; 2 hour car journey down the motorway.

  • 40 minutes in the train... <img src="smileys/smiley1.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Blacksmith LOL Probably not.

I did drive 2500 miles to Alaska in April. I got paid to help convoy some Jeeps and Tour buses for a friends Tour business.

Maybe I just need to find someone to pay me to drive to England? <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

Looks like there are enough takers to fill half the Pub, sounds like it's going to happen.

  • LittleStain: I'm afraid you have it wrong dear. I'm not from the Netherlands I'm from France.

    Sorry <img src="smileys/smiley17.gif" border="0" align="middle">

But as some other people have suggested along this thread, having local meetups/jams sounds like a great bunch of ideas.

I also like the streaming idea, have to find a pub with a good internet uploading bandwidth and simply have a laptop with a camera and OBS plugged to Scirra's Twitch channel, it's not that big of a deal, the hardest part is to make sure the pub has the correct bandwidth and the owners are OK with it being the base for such a meetup/broadcast.

Barcrafts over Europe already do this (at least I've seen some in France do so during the MLG and being in connection with the French webTV O'Gaming that broadcasted some of the images from time to time).

At worst, a camera that updates a pictures every X minutes can also do the trick, even if it isn't as fun as a full broadcast.

  • I'm too far from London <img src="smileys/smiley19.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

I'm actually used to hanging out with people who are 20-30 years old than me, as my workplace is very diverse. Unless your below 17 then I can see why your uncomfortable.

I think it'd be pretty sweet to meet some C2 makers at a pub however, the downside being that London is really far from where I live.

  • retrodude I'm a couple months off being 16.. but then I'm not your average younger teenager.. you'd probably think I was about 20-23 (from what most people say when meeting me in the first 5 minutes)

  • Maybe we could have a pub crawl around England :D

  • Damn too far away, would have been awesome though.

  • Why not set up another forum page with local chapter heads. People from same areas link in under a chapter (state/region) and set up meets.

Im out of my area but home for me is Florida, id have no problem trying to bring people together for drinks and idea sessions.

Oh another thought, Chapter challenges. One idea is spread to everyone and see which Chapter comes up with the best end result of the idea. Send out trophies (T-Shirt) saying this chapter one what ever event.

  • chadnon: Please don't post several posts in a row, prefer to use the "Post options"/"Edit post" function like in any other forum.

    Thanks.

  • Paradox,

A convoy sounds pretty cool, and 2500 miles would get you a long way in the UK.

Did you mention driving over? Now hold on a second, I'm all for helping fellow devs out when I can, but could you imagine the cost of retro fitting a car for aquatic travel? The journey would be amazing though, wouldn't it?

But still, it would be great if some of our international brothers and sisters could join us for a spot of afternoon tea! Then perhaps the meet up could be held in a new place each year (great excuse for a holiday!).   <img src="smileys/smiley2.gif" border="0" align="middle" />

  • Blacksmith

    Vegas!

  • I like this idea. I'm not sure if I'm able attend. I would need to check budged and how to accommodate myself.

  • Paradox,

Now Vegas sounds like a great idea, although I'm not sure my wallet could stand the strain ;)
