  • Discmach You'll find the "camera" that sets scroll x and scroll y in eRoomSystem event 4.

At the end of those expressions, add a shake parameter (i.e. a value that randomly chooses a number between -8 and 8 and gradually evens out to 0.)

That's awesome, I was dwelling on the system event - scroll to, and figured there was nothing else I could do. Thanks :)

  • How would I get screenshake working with the way you have used scrolling within the project?

Just finding/getting unhelpful suggestions of "turn unbounded scrolling to yes" etc.

  • Your best option is to get rid of it, since C3 supports this natively. I have actually done this manually by editing the project file. I intend to post the instructions, I just haven't got to it yet. I'm also working on a fix to Give Your Fonts Mono to help support this better.

Thanks, think I will just do that.

  • The template only works in Constuct 2. I plan to upgrade it to Construct 3 later this summer.

On trying to load it into Construct 3, it brings up the addon/plugin box.

Searching around, all but one of the plugins have already been converted to C3, and load in okay.

The plugin that is missing, and prevents Epic Platformer from loading is "Spritefont+"

The original creator of the plugin hasn't been online in 2 years, so they are unlikely to convert it.

While I have asked in the plugin forum, if someone could kindly convert it, I would ask you if its possible you can use an alternative to the plugin incase it isn't converted soon?

Is the plugin just used for the NPC/cutscene text boxes and could I just easily remove those events and it doesn't affect the rest of the project?

I'm eager to continue work on my project

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Likelihood is Spritefont+ isn't going to get a conversion by original creator, he hasn't visited logged in in 2 years. thechriskent sorry if I'm mistaken.

Seems to be a widely used addon, plenty of interest.

Possible someone skilled in these things, can convert it for the community?

If I'm wrong and it's not so popular/widely used, I'll have to just seek an alternative.

    Thanks in advance

  • bump.

Is anyone else having this issue?

Its is supposed to do this or is it a bug?

  • Not even sure if this is a bug, my gif should give you an idea of what might be wrong.

The paintbrush tool uses anti-alias even when smooth is clicked off. Is this right? was smooth doing something I couldn't see and paintbrush is always anti-aliased?

(and if this is a bug, bloody hell, having to goto a third party, and make an account just to post bugs is such a ballache, way to turn off even more people from reporting.)

If you have a specific bug issue please report it in the bug section so it can be addressed and let's keep this thread to your impressions, uses planned for C3 and reasons to subscribe or not please.

If this works, well its a perfectly good reason to sub, at least for casual devving on the go. I think many might agree that the mobile version, although cute, isn't very practical.

    >

On desktop, there's a zoom option in the Chrome menu. On Android you can adjust the text size in accessibility settings, and in newer versions of Android you can scale the entire display in the OS too.

We've specifically designed the UI to scale with your text size and browser zoom level so this ought to be entirely configurable.

Yeah in the desktop website version the zoom thing works fine.

Got version 6 on my phone and tablet is 5, didn't find any options for OS zoom without rooting the devices. (changing dpi settings)

I had few days ago attempted the text size in accessibility settings, but it didn't change the box size etc (css?) But today loading it up, now r15, the layout is smaller along with the text, so perhaps a caching issue?

So cool, that works, setup mouse to have a go, all works alright until I try to "double click", or "hold click" on an item (like you do with touch to get the sub menu up), nothing happens?

Possible you can make mouse double click or hold click open the sub-menu? Otherwise its unusable as nothing more than scrolling and dragging items with a little more precision.

    Thanks,

    Serious dev.

Subbing for first year IF export shows to work for mobile well enough. Have games waiting for export from C2.

On the otherhand - if someone could explain how to change zoom level on Chrome android that'd be a help.

Was told this was a solution to the giant GUI, but no explanation online on how to do it in the android app. (Let alone the "app" version of C3 openable from homescreen)

If it works, I can dev on my inexpensive android tablet w/ mouse around the country instead of lugging around my workstation laptop.

Point being, if I'm paying this much for the software, its main selling point better be of use to me. In its current form, the mobile version sucks, usable to me if zoomed out and mouse usable.

To the few people above that said they will get C3 for a year just long enough to export their C2 projects I suggest you look at the bug reports.

I tried loading some of my small C2 games that have no addons or plugins and couldn't even get them to load. If you are using any plugins I will bet you won't be able to use them on C3. At least not any time soon.

The point I have been making all along is if Scirra now has those wrappers and exporters that we have been asking for for years then they can include those in a C2 update or make a package of exporters we can buy as an addon separately without a subscription.

If C3 is just going to end up being an expensive way for people to export our C2 projects that is not something I think many people are interested in and those exporters were advertised to be included with C2 when we purchased our license.

On general principle I agree wholeheartedly, if these exporters work they should be put into an update for C2 to give us what was advertised. Sign of good faith an all.

I am getting C3 for its exporters out of desperation, which sucks but after putting many months into those games, I can't just abandon all the effort.

And following on what lennaert said, yeah *fingers crossed* on it working. I'm certainly not desperate enough to pay for exporters that don't work let alone "bug testing" them during the first year of C3's release. I need to see them working day1.

Can I see those PC games in a video or can they be downloaded ?. I'm making a PC game and I'd like to see if NWjs will work fine. I have investigated some games like pink man and according to the critics of steam it seems that NWjs works well. There are no problems or criticisms about that.

Not sure I can I'm afraid, ones an "adult" game, interactive platformer kind of thing, waiting for a Patreon push if we can get it exported smoothly enough, second I'd need to get permission from the other 2 teammembers, likely a no.

They have more going on in them than pinkman, (not trying to downplay pinkman) and they aren't using many effects, everything is low-medium res for artwork.

Not going to tout that Kyle (main programmer dev on the latter game) is a genius and some stuff couldn't have been done differently, but we have buffed this game down to bare essentials and little improvement.
