    Thank you!

  • Behavior SDK is released now.

    Regarding performance...

    This is interesting.

  • Not sure if this is possible but, Is there a way to maybe cap the framerate in C2/C3 (I'm using C3 currently)

It would maybe be a good feature to be able to choose to cap frame rate at 30fps or 60fps rather than having the browser trying it utmost to render 60fps if 30fps wil ldo for a particular game.

  • Great job! How can one then add these shaders to the Effects though? Sorry I'm a noob.

Read neverk's full quote, In the end it says "And that's kind of future proof path." Sounds like a well-thought-out plan to me.

If you are actually thinking long term toward a proven deliverable product for phone/tablet/computer/console, other engines have a much better track record than construct.

What is wrong with using the best tool for the job?

    Nothing is future proof.

If you want something with a better track record Unity and Unreal Engine is way way above and beyond the rest.

If he wants a well thought out plan that's more future proof imho Learning C# / C++ is a better way to go. Then you never have to worry about paying for engines etc.

That doesnt mean other people have the same motivations or goals.

I want to develop games. I want to think it out, make it and then be able to finish them and put it out there.

I have a budget that i look at when checking how reasonable something is.

I work fulltime as a Systems Engineer and I am also studying Cyber Security and Forensics part time. I also have a wife and I ride dirtbikes on weekends and have a social life. Still trying to fit in and learn GoDOt (their own proprietary language as well) , will take me a long long time before I can put out a proper playable game.

    The quickest ways I found to make the games I have in my head (2D) is Construct > Fusion > Stencyl> Gamemaker > Unity > Unreal > GoDot > BlitzMax > C# > C++

So if time is more important than money (same with me) I don't see how GoDot or C++ etc is going to save you time.

If exporting or running on different platforms with speed is the main concern then I think Gamemaker, Unity and even Fusion is your best bet I suppose.

I'm going for Web, Steam, (PC, Mac and Linux) and Xbox. PS4 has a very difficult process to get into the indie side and they don't seem to be very open. Wii U... pointless for me at this stage to spend resources. Switch...that's the one I feel would be awesome to have an export for Construct...probably won't happen for the same reasons Wii U doesnt work. very poor HTML5.

Phones for me is nice to have but don't really care. The market is saturated and they don't want to pay. Although I can see using it for smallish games. But then C3 should do fine.

I must admit none of this has anything to do with the Renting model though...

This is now about tech choice and export options.

I'm still on a fence whether I subscribe or not. I really like C3 but I don't like the subscription model and the poor export options. I might just invest that same money in a professional tutorial for another game engine, like this... And that's kind of future proof path.

Tried GoDot and didn't like it.

I kinda hate to post it here since it seems a bit unfair but , if you don't like the Subscription (Renting )model then if I were you I'd rather look at Fusion 2.5 (but actually Fusion 3 upcoming) or GameMaker Studio 2. I even prefer Unity to GoDot.

Whatever you choose other than Fusion maybe... won't come close to Construct 3 in speed and ease of use imho.

I suppose each person need to decide what's more valuable to them.

  • Yep, works again.

  • Yup Confirmed. Can't work on my GameJam project now. Can't load project.

  • exists a way to auto saving every x minutes?

No there is no way that I know of.

Just make it a habit to save after every so many events

    Hello;

I just have to smile at people even thinking that phonegap matters here. The vast majority of customers don't care about this kind of thing because 99% will never complete a game. RPG maker makes big money by giving their users a positive experience in the first 30 minutes. While it is nice to pretend we are all going to become

game developers it is so far from the truth as to make just about every post on this forum laughable.

The Devs should be spending 90 percent of their time worrying about what a typical user will do in the first

hour using their environment--mostly how easy is it to install and run the first time through. If they can make a non-programming 12 year old happy with that first experience the world will beat a path to their door regardless of the subscription method.

With that in mind they need some canned animations and sounds (like rpg maker) more than any kind of run-time optimizations.

    yours

    Winkr7

I guess thats why Unity and Gamemaker and Unreal are so successful? /sarcasm

1% of millions is still a lot. Please...no canned animations and stuff.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads

I always made it clear if we made our own build system we'd have to charge for it, and people still seemed to be in favour of that.

I'm sure they understood it as a downloadable 1 time purchase system. Thats why they where in favor.

Personally I'm fine with how its going to be done now, as it works pretty well. Provided that issues I might have doesn't get blamed on PhoneGap or whatever 3rd party. Because then it's again, nothing I have a choice in, but I still pay Scirra monthly.

Stating on the website that it exports to all these platforms by paying monthly puts a certain expectation in the users mind.

Imho Scirra should take some ownership of the problem even if it's a Phonegap or (place your chosen 3rd party exporter here) to help the Renting user resolve that issue on behalf of that user.

I'm not saying you do or you don't - just explaining.
