  • I think it would be better in the long run to try implementing per pixel collision or some kind os collision mask that we could use with each tileset.

Image memes are fun and all, but I don?t think this is the place for them.

Maybe I didn?t put the question clearly, so let me try to explain:

As now, a tilemap is an entire object with one possible behavior for each tilemap, so If I wanted to have different behaviors for different tiles, I would need to create multiple spritesheets and assign them the behaviors.

I?m starting to work on a pretty large project, so it would be benefitial to have each tile in a tilemap to be treated as a separate sprite and the entire tilemap be treated as an 2d array, so I could better control them on runtime.

For example, I could create separate collision maps for different tiles, change behaviors based on each one and destroy them individually if I so wish.

I?m asking if there are plans for the future to treat the tilemap this way, akin to other solutions like Unity?s 2d Toolkit or Rotorz.

  • Yeah newt, Im awate its no easy task, but it would be very useful to define individual behaviors and properties on each tile on a tileset or create a family of tile objects.

  • Hello, the tilemap is awesome, is it possible to treat each individual tile as an object and not the entire tilemap on the future?

  • Waiting for the validation, hope I still can participate on the competition ;]

  • Thanks justifun!

I?m worried that working with exceptions(ie:when not falling), the code becomes a mess and inserting new animations is a shore. ;o

  • Thanks mwmdragon, I didnt know Budokan but Karateka was one of our main inspirations ^^

  • Hello there!

I?ve made some games with C2 so far, but I?m at a loss when controlling animations in an efficient manner.

I?d like to have several states like, for example:

    -Idle

    -Walk

    -Run

    -Jump

    -Falling

    -Attack

But I can?t seen to make the transitions between those states in a clean way. So, how do I make a controller for those animations that doesn?t look like crazy if I need to insert a new animation?

Also, is there any way to queue animation states?(For example, two idle states or a double jump)

If you could provide an example I would be very grateful!

    Thanks!

  • Thank you ^^

  • Thanks for the feedback megapowerskills We are actually waiting for the next version with the tile mapper to start working on platformers again.

I?ve got lots of trouble on how would I go to create a state machine for the animations in Construct 2, is there any simpler way to do that?

  • Thank you Zav for your feedback, it?s very important to us ^^

For our next game we?ll keep all this on mind, it was our second platform game ever, so we are still learning the ropes, hahah

  • Thank you for your feedback damainman, those are really useful suggestions! ;]

And thank you everybody that played ^^

  • damainman Thank you for playing ^^ Im not sure why the background bugs happen on chrome, going to investigate further ;3 Did you manage to reach the end(players told us the game is way to difficult because of the controls ~_~)
