  • I'm working on a retro style game with very subtle "modern" touches. One of the things I've been experimenting with is limited color pallets. I went from 24 down to 8, and then 3 and now 2. I want the game to feel really really retro so I also went with a 16x16 tile but now I'm wondering if I went too far..

    Has anyone else done something like this or know of successful games with very limited colors? I'm thinking about adding black back in to the color pallet, making two colors and black for some contrast but I want to keep it super simple..

  • Quick question:

    Can Spriter/Pro animate a single whole image using bones?

    I've recently been playing with this function in Flash and seen other tools out there but I haven't been in Spriter in a while. I would love for this to be possible but I have a feeling that it wouldn't work in C2 because the image mesh created for the animation wouldn't carry over..

    I guess at the very least it would be worth it even if you had to export a sprite sheet of the fluid animation though.

    Hmm.. I haven't taken a look at Spriter in a while but I have to say single image animation and adding deformation effects is awesome looking.

    Has anyone been able to make this work with C2? That's the big question I think.

    I've been learning how to use C2 for over a year now and feel pretty comfortable programming games. I have had a lot of trouble building my portfolio because I'm not an artist, and I end up not finishing my projects because I don't like the way they look.

    This is where you come in!

    I'm looking for a few projects to take on where you send me your art assets and explain the idea and I program it and put it together for you. You get a game and I get something to add to my portfolio as a game creator.

    When the pillars are created they add 1 to the global variable pillars. When this variable hits 0, the gate destroys.

  • You can always use random for price and amount.. like the variable MeatPrice could be Random(1,3). this would make the price be 1, 2 or 3 randomly. I made a REALLY simple space trader game that did this so different space stations would have different values each day. This way the player would have to travel each day to make a profit.

    Does this help at all or should I make a quick example?

  • You could make a global variable for the number of pillars on screen and when it equals 0 or less the gate opens/destroys.

    I did something similar with random enemies on screen. I made it spawn a random amount so i never knew how many would be there. The way I made it all work out is I just had the on start event add 1 for every enemy, then I made the door open when the number of enemies was 0.

    I'll try to make a quick demo for you, hope this helps.

  • I want to make a simple radar app and it would be great if the radar would rotate when the user rotated, like a real radar would.

    The only way I can imagine this working properly would be to use the gyroscope input, but I have no idea how.

    Does anyone know how or have a simple CAPX for this?

    Sounds to me like you're missing a "trigger once while true" (or similar) somewhere.

  • I opened the audio analyzer file that comes with C2 and learned how to make my own, the issue is that I seem to lose FPS immediately after I start audio and I never gain it back, even after I stop the audio.

    What am I doing wrong?
