I'm working on a retro style game with very subtle "modern" touches. One of the things I've been experimenting with is limited color pallets. I went from 24 down to 8, and then 3 and now 2. I want the game to feel really really retro so I also went with a 16x16 tile but now I'm wondering if I went too far..
Has anyone else done something like this or know of successful games with very limited colors? I'm thinking about adding black back in to the color pallet, making two colors and black for some contrast but I want to keep it super simple..
