  • Hi there,

    It might be strange, why someone want to write, code directly without using Event sheet solution. The story goes like this: I Finally have found a friend with a will to help me make games and he is a pretty good programmer with lot of experience. The thing is, that he found the event sheet slowing or limiting his work. He would prefer to write the code instead of using the drag and drop event sheet system.

    Is there a way or a workflow where he can code without using event sheet? Still Im a more art and graphics person thus total retard in terms of programming so I really love to work with event sheets and my friend want to code like he is used to.

    Im just finding the best way how we can work together. Did anybody have this problem before? Is there a solution to this situation?

    I hope I made my questions clear.

    So, another questions is better to use webstorage or dictionary?

    Should I use webstorage only? It looks like a better idea if I want to store these values after the program restarts. Or is there some profit of using Dictionary and than save the values to webstorage?

  • Hi thx for your responses guys, I bumped in to a problem, it seems like Dictionaries arent able to store instance variables of some object as values. Am I right? How can I store value as an instance variable of some object than transfer the value from instance variable to a another layout.

    How can I do it? Thanks in advance for any reasonable reply !

  • Thank you for your reply C-7, Im kind of scared of using arrays, it is much easier to pick global variable by its name like "WeaponSpread" and than using it instead of coordinates in array to localize the right value.

    I am afraid it would be very confusing if I add more and more statistics, if you know what I mean. Is there a way to somehow name the value and pick it by the name, instead of coordinates ?

    I tried to use dictionary just for taking the values from layout A to layout B and I failed. Can someone make a simple .Capx of how I can do that or link to some tutorial?

    Arrays and Dictionaries are pretty vast topic, so I would love to know where to start.

  • Hi there, I have been struggling with this for some time. Im working on a game project where you can upgrade your ship and weapons stats in shop than continue to another level.

    Something like in Tyrian (

    shop screen is in 2:10) Top Down shooter, but bit more complex. I want to change statistics of each weapon and each ship. Ship statistics would be max speed, agility, HP, Shield points etc. Weapons would have its own stats.

    Here is the catch, I want to make it somehow without using lot of global variables (maybe 4 to 6 maximum). Is it even possible? If not, how many of global variables I should use.

  • Jantaaa : did you put the plugin in the behavior directory?

    Sorry I meant Behaviors folder, I find the issue. I had it in the folder of older Construct2 version, silly me

  • Hi there I downloaded the files put them in the plugin folder fired up easetwee ref capx. When C2 boot up, window appears with message "litetween isnt installed - (long story short)" I use r 173 release, am I did something wrong?

  • This was a first gamejam for me, and it was fun (also a lot of stress before the deadline ) to participate! Ill try to participate in more GameJams if it is possible a real challange and fun in my eyes. I feel like I gained a lot of XP in short perriod of time!

    There are few things that bothered me, as few users already mentioned before.

    1) Lot of us didnt know, that you can update your game after deadline (I found out this information today), it might be better to make rule list on one page from start to end of the competition.

    2) Make the Rules more detailed or FAQ or both.

    3) NG is a great website, however it would be awesome to get more feedback from players, maybe some feedback from judges themselves (but that would be very time-consuming, I respect that), But that is more or less critics for NG not Scirra.

    Anyway great gamejam, cant wait for another Gamejam, best of luck to all participants!
