  • I decided to conduct my own simple test:

    The results are somewhat inconclusive...

For now I'm sticking with the complex polygon, which runs the same in a naked eye test, as the collision is more precise.

  • Hey gang, I'm working on a racing game, for my track collision would I better off creating a complex collision polygon or using multiple rectangular collision blocks?

    Cheers

  • I don't really understand your question but I'll give it a shot.

Drag and drop items support multitouch and work independently of each other, you can move two objects at once.

However if your problem is that you want Object 2 to move when you're moving Object 1, then I suggest you look into pinning the objects together or using events to manipulate the objects position whilst Object 1 is in touch.

  • I vaguely remember a discussion about the ability to display multiple layouts at the same time - I could be making this up though, I'm tired!

Layers have always worked for me in this regard, but I'll be following this thread with interest.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • is there away to have the game before it load to check that is loading somehow on the site domain approved by the game developer?

Whilst I haven't tried this, here's a quick concept that'll redirect any stolen games and beat iframes, using Scirra's domain as an example.

I can't get the redirect to work in preview mode, but you could just as easily destroy groups of objects or make a pop up appear.

    Happy Constructing.

  • Generally speaking ads will do better for smaller games - but several users have reported issues with C2 and ads on mobile.

  • Maybe I should write up a blog post on minimising the download size?

That would be greatly appreciated, I develop exclusively for mobile atm and I had no idea about the audio trick.

  • Event filtering in general would be fantastic (being able to see all the events related to a specific object for example) but I don't think we'll be seeing that until Construct 3.

  • A common argument is that piracy doesn't harm a business because it doesn't drain resources like bandwidth or deplete unit numbers, and most importantly, a customer that wasn't going to buy the product anyway doesn't count as a lost sale.

This argument is wrong - piracy creates a psychology of entitlement that locks into our modern cultures obsession with instant gratification; the more you pirate, the less likely you are to actually buy future products.

  • Mike Stout and Tony Garcia play through the Ratchet and Clank series

Watching them play throught R&C2 was probably the best educational thing I've seen on game design.

  • I want to spawn a sprite at a random place on my layout - however I don't want the sprite to be created within 25 pixels of any existing sprite; how would I go about this?

    Cheers guys

  • Very excited to see TLP with the new Mode7 effect.
