  • Thanks, Rich.

  • I'm taking a bit of a detour and trying to make a utility widget using Construct>new application. I want to use the Application runtime so it will load faster and use minimal resources (and won't need DirectX-9). So I'd like to have this little program run "always on top" and maybe have some transparency. Except I'm a dunce and can't figure out how to use the ImageManipulator or ImageList to display any graphics (and sprites, canvas don't seem to work in application runtime). If someone could point me in the general direction, I'd appreciate it.

    for example:

    <img src="http://www.pictures.kdesmo.com/widgetpic.png">

Just a gamepad reference with multiple profiles, and clicking the arrow will display different application profiles. I'm working on a DirectX version, but I'd like to try making a Construct Windows Application - since the option is there.

    Thanks.

  • Try Construct 3

  • Just ran across Gmax "free game development level editor based on the 3D animation platform Autodesk 3ds Max" - mentioned at Reality Factory.

Requires registration with Discreet, but interface looks very much like 3Ds Max.

  • The image importer works great for sequential sprites - and the tile slicing feature can probably be used for some cool effects, too... but not so great for different sized objects on the same sprite sheet - say chairs, trees, or body parts for rigged sprites. It would be cool if the image editor had a "select - exclude outside" so you could delete the stuff around the pixels you want to keep. OR - a button to "convert selection to sprite."

Then again, I just learned you can maximize the image editor (thanks, Mipey!), so maybe it can already do these things?

  • Works with my 0.98.9b files, too, thanks!

  • ah..thaaat's how you do parameters..thanks!

  • Thanks for the link. Included a worthy review of Killzone 2, lots of gameplay vid.

  • I just finished reading the anim8or manual, but it looks like it's time to move on..TrueSpace looks great. Probably won't give up on Blender just yet, but might have to re-learn it when 2.5 comes out. Thanks for the great resources!

  • Fantastic tips for dealing with enemies. Enemy "types" will be especially useful. Can't wait to see'em fight back - Thanks again!

  • Free version of FRAPS for video capture and screenshots, shows frames per second:

Outputs in avi files that are quite large. Best to convert to quicktime or upload to video hosting.

    FastStone sharware screen capture:

quick, effective screenshot tool - can select portion of screens as well as scrolling screens.

  • That's very cool. Here's a quick vid for those using the correct version:
