  • How do I simulate a jump and move to Left/Right with 1 button?

    I'm not sure what I am doing wrong but here is what I am trying to do

    Player press on screen -> The character Jumps to the right and holds on to the wall on the right -> Player press on the screen again and the character jumps to the left wall instead

    For some reason I just can't get this to work at all, Could anyone explain what I am doing wrong?

    How good would the performance be compared to engines such as GameMaker Studio2 ?

    Would it be a downside that Scirra is html?

    Even though Ashley and Tom have turned out to be liars and assholes we are going to help them out by releasing a C2 clone that will be completely open source so you can use all your C2 plugins and run your existing games and help develop features and exporters that actually work.

    It will be completely free and community based development so just watch for the announcement here on Scirra.

    The model we're launching with is based on analysis of sales and customer data for the past couple of years. Please be aware that if you've not done any such analysis and you're still throwing out ideas, they may well actually be the kind of idea that likely ruins the company. It's also easy to like other people's ideas if they mean you pay less, but it's still not such a great idea if we end up firing people to try to stay afloat because the model significantly reduces our revenue. One of the risks of the "pay once" model that Construct 2 has always faced is that we could have tens of thousands of active users, and still go out of business, because the support for long-term existing users is entirely funded by new user sales, which there's a chance could end up tailing off. So if you are interested in the long-term viability of Construct and our ability to expand Construct to new areas to make it better and more powerful (of which hiring new staff and paying their salaries is a significant part), some kind of subscription or on-going payment is actually good way to do that.

    On the one hand we have users baying for major new features ranging across broad areas like animation, 3D, teamwork/collaboration, modularity, even scripting or new styles of drag-and-drop system; on the other we have people who want everything cheaper, lower-cost, less investment. You should also remember you can't have it all: if the product is cheaper or less sustainable, you can assume many of those ideas will be postponed far off in to the distant future, rather than something we could conceivably approach at some point, or even actively start planning.

    But will construct 3 have a build in app creator or will we still have to use third party tools such as intel XDK?

    you can set "Unbounded Scrolling" to yes in the layout properties, then the world can extend forever. You just have to generate the world as people go.

    You may want to read up on Perlin Noise. There is a noise plugin for C2. That allows you to pick a seed number and then generate consistent results for your map at any given coordinate. (This is how MineCraft builds their worlds).

    Not really an open world like that, but an close-open world that extends a long way and then entries to dungeons ect

  • I would like to create a 'Open world' 2D game top-down view.

    Is that possible in scirra?

    Planning to have it as a PC game, How do I make a good play-area?

    should I just make a "map / play-area" that is like 50,000 x 50,000 wide (Let's say I will keep the layout to 1280x720)

    Or like 120,000 , 120,000

    Would there be any disadvantages with this?

    Most people here who use & enjoy C2 are hobbyist, myself included. I will not pay a subscription fee for C3.

    Same with me.

    I use Construct for a very long time now and I do not plan to start a subscription service to use it a few times a month.

    If making games thought Construct 2 was my work, I woulden't mind it, but it isn't.

    It's just another way for Scirra to earn more money and its sad to see that they chosed this path.

  • Let's say it's a 2D topdown shooter game, I want Enemy AI with guns,

    They are in a house with walls, they will walk slowly to suprise the player and they wont just keep run in to the player, they will just walk a certain range, basicly AI with guns that wont just toggle Object.move to player

    Any tutorials on this?

  • There is a rexrainbow plugin for system date and time where I think you can calculate how much time has passed or if it has passed 00:00 and then on loading the app it would decide whether the variable needs to be reset.

    Would you mind linking me the plugin?

    Lets say I have "Score".

    And every day the time hits 00:00 GMT (Or just midnight if that makes it simplier (on your phones clock)), the score resets, how do I do this?

    Game is for an android game!

    What is wrong with the dark skin that exist?

  • There is probably some smart way of doing this but in my game when like a boss battle started that was only on 1 screen, I simply placed walls around the window and made them invisible and 1 px wide
