With regards to the second one, all I have to say is thank *u** Yoyo/Mark Overmars decided to go for something more sensible.

  • I haven't seen it for a while, but you still have those "are you human" type things set up? Also, how about restricting sigs and posts with URLs in them until you've made a certain number of posts? It probably wouldn't stop some of the cleverer bots (or any spam account that has at least a minimal amount of human control), but it might help.

  • EA UK? Doesn't really do much nowadays, does it? It's mostly just somewhere they dump the Hasbro licensed stuff to be worked on.

  • Well, it'd be nice if it gets updated more often than Code::Blocks tends to, at least. It's also another IDE for GCC.

  • Hmmm. Never used the Wubi installer here, I've got a second hard drive on which I have Ubuntu installed.

  • So why didn't you use URL reducers in the first place? It's pretty much the accepted norm on Twitter.

  • I seem to have run into an issue with it. Construct 0.99.96. I can't jump in the Clock Tower level...

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • [quote:3fadssho]Amen! We need more fonts, too. I've been wishing for Westminster. I type it in but it doesn't go, so I guess it's not in Construct.

you have to add those fonts to make them work. Download the fonts and paste the font file in Control Panel>Fonts.

Not the best way of having to do it, unfortunately. It'd be nice in that case if the fonts the game uses were self-contained in the application - although that then opens up a licensing can of worms (plenty of free/open source fonts out there though - e.g., the Google Droid family).

  • http://www.opengameart.org/ is a start, you could also take a look at http://www.openclipart.org/ and see if anything there might be useful, too.

  • Is the run layout option supposed to only run the current layout you've selected? Because experimenting with a project, layout changes work. Is this a bug? If not, perhaps having a "Run this layout only" option would be good, and renaming the current "Run layout" "Run from this layout"?

  • I like episodic stuff. It gives the developers more time to work on the game and make it polished. Rather than trying to bust out 50 levels they only work on 1/5th of the amount and it means the levels are better quality. Also, if the first episode is s**t, they make the second one better, rather than having a whole game that is s**t. Also, we dont have to wait as long (usually)

On the assumption they haven't already created all the content and are just now following a release schedule...

  • The fact that this is episodic annoys me, they're pulling the same string as Sonic 4, they're doing this for money rather then gameplay.

It's Ubisoft, what do you expect?

  • Ugh, I hate fake corporate sites like this one.

I think wanted is the appropriate word here. I'd be surprised if anyone outside of Ubisoft ever sees these tools. And the new Rayman game they're talking about is console only, more the pity.

  • Any guesses as to the age of the OP?

    I'd say 12-13 tops.

Got to love the enthusiasm, but it needs to be tempered with a large amount of realism.

You see so many posts like this on Dev sites.

    Krush.

Given a few years he might hopefully become a constructive member of these forums.

And as for Operating Systems... http://en.wikibooks.org/wiki/Operating_System_Design

Mono's Miguel de Icaza has suggested something along the lines of UI toolkits being created with game engines (albeit 3D ones), according to issue 83 of Linux User and Developer anyway, so I think that's an interesting area of overlap.
