  • Thanks for your capx. Unfortunately, I can't open it right now. I am using an older version, and I am on holiday, and am using my limited prepaid internet. Will definitely download and see your capx once I get back home!

  • Yahoo!! I just found a solution to what I am looking for.

For those who are interested, all I did was create a border sprite and placed tham on the layout borders, and make it invisible. Than when it is on screen, I just stopped the zooming. Haha so simple.

  • emoaeden thanks for helping. But what you are showing is how to zoom am I correct? Actually I've got that part done already. What I want is to make sure that the zoom doesn't go over the layout size, since it will shows the outside part of the game. emoaeden I do appreciate the effort!

Hopefully someone is able to help.

  • Hi everyone,

This is what I want to achieve. When I press the button, the window will zoom out until it reaches either the layout's width or height, making sure it shows only the objects in the game. But I am not sure how to determine or ensure that the zoom does not go over the height or width that exposes the outside of the layout.

If you open the above capx, you will understand what I mean. When I click the button, it zooms out exposing parts that are not supposed to be in the game.

Would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks guys!

  • That did the trick. Thank you so much!

  • Hi guys,

Please forgive me if this is a noob question. What action can I use to center an object to where the window is?

I want to use this for creating a minimap. The layout will be big, and the scrolling is determined by touching the screen, and not a player object on the screen. Which is why I want to use a dummy object to center to the screen so that I can set its location inside the minimap.

Or do you think there is a more effective way to do this?

    Thank you.

  • Thank you so much for this ffman22. I am looking for how to create a minimap and found your example. Really appreciate it!

  • Thanks for this! I am fixing my old platformer game and this is handy information!

  • Haha I just recently ran into the same problem as you, (just a few days ago actually). I use the software that PheonixNightly recommended and also the SpriteFont+ plugin. It really makes things so much more easier cause you just need enter the json code into the section prepared and you are good to go, and it does have an additional function as well.

Here's the link to the tutorial: https://www.scirra.com/tutorials/716/using-the-spritefont-plugin

  • If you are targeting PC games, I think it is safe to say that most monitors out there nowadays are 16:9 ratio. I almost never see anymore 3:4 monitors. There are still out there, but I think people use them for other things and not mainly for playing game.

  • tomsstudio Wow, as the others already mentioned, WOW! I've got a vuvuzuela specially used to root for you!

As someone who has tried GM and Unity many years ago, and left because of very poor programming skills, I am not really that qualified to talk much about this. But perhaps Scirra could implement something where some of the updates can be voted by the community?

For example, Scirra could put a small list of new features for the next stable release, and let the community discuss and vote on which they would like to see implemented first. And maybe even a section for larger features that take a longer time, so at least the community knows that it is being addressed. The advantage of this is not only does it get all of us working more closer together, but it could actually help Scirra bring these functions to life earlier. For example, if everyone votes to have a native exporter for mobile, than someone might have also been working on something similar, Scirra and the person could work together for a short while to complete this instead of starting from scratch ( hint hint....tomsstudio's project!)

Of course, only Scirra truly understands the structure and how C2 is put together so some things need to be done and fixed before others can be implemented, but maybe it would be a positive thing to also let the community who are the customers also have a say in what they would like to see.
