  • ive had to remake a whole bunch of tiling engines like this, and not to mention each object being a sprite is rather slow. there really should be an optimized "tile" object, with the ability to do this and exist in huge numbers without much slow-down compared to using sprites.

    I would love to see this feature in Construct.

  • As I said in chat, this is freakin SEXY!

    Also, pancakes and bumpmapping for the blind.

  • I also agree. The animation editor does need a revamp as for now its a bit lacking of some useful features.

  • Wow davo!

    Thats freakin amazing, its good to see that that IS possible in construct.

  • Hm. Double clicking on the downloaded cap results in:

    <img src="http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/6566/rhfjdjejdn.png">

    Opening Construct then browsing to the cap results in:

    <img src="http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/3704/rhfjdjejdw.png">

    Out of memory? Granted I have shittons of other stuff open, but I doubt that's the problem.

    Download the latest construct (Unstable). I had the same issue with his split-screen concept.

  • Its coming along nicely, especially considering I didnt get stuck this time

    However, walking too far up causes you to fall. Perhaps make it so you collide with some invisi-wall or something...

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

    Tried to follow this tutorial more accurately: But I'm sure I've failed.

    Also darkened the bark a bit, to make it stick out less.

    Here! Have a Tileset demo!

    Not screenshots (again). Please critique.

    I cant see the image from where I am (photobucket is blocked) however... I do not reccomend that tutorial, as its more discussing the history of pixel art in games and less on teaching you how do make your own.

    However, I highly reccomend this one for actual steps: http://www.derekyu.com/?page_id=218

    And this one for reference: http://www.drububu.com/tutorial/pixelart.html

  • Its not a screenshot but here is a gel slime and a fuzzy tree.

    <img src="http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v396/Shadow_Kirby/FuzzyTreeAlpha.png">

    They are best friends.

    Give critique, also... no Defunct in 2010. :3

    I love the slime, but the tree needs some different shading, and its texture seems a little off.

    Still, nice work.

    although its nicely rendered for an anime character, your colour ramps are very boring/ugly colours. try using less linear ramps and hue shifting to cooler colors as you get into the more shadowed parts of the ramp, and warmer as you get into the highlights. also realize that you should NEVER, EVER render gold with a simple brightness decreased yellow ramp, it comes off as some weird greenish stuff, and its a really ugly color, i opened up your file in paint shop pro, palletized it, and changed up all the colours to show you what i mean with all this. i also through in a contrasted version of mine in case you wanted to see it in a well, more contrasted tone.

    (its an animated gif, wait for the frames to load)

    <img src="http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1010927/girlsprites.gif">

    also the rendering on the skirt is very odd and showing a ton of banding. i made some minimal edits to it as well, and don't be afraid to borrow colours from different ramps for use in other areas,

    I took most of the colors straight off of refrerence pics of said character-- Even I thought the shades were bland. I even complained in chat about how freakin similar the hair and the skin was in color, lol.

    But yeah, thanks for the advice though, and I will keep this in mind for my future projects.

  • Your character will die, she doesn't have a frilly hat!

    Not a Touhou character, therefore does NOT need said frilly hat.

  • Ok guys, finished!

  • Minor, that game is looking really good, love its style!

  • Well, PC's are moving forward continually, and its not an issue at all to upgrade.In fact it's rather easy. When running a construct game without the proper directX files, it will prompt you to install it and pressing OK will take you right to the page, making it even easier to upgrade.

    If someones too lazy to upgrade, sorry to say, but that's their fault.

    Adding support for another, and older, DirectX version would, as ash said, be some time consuming work, work that would be better spent on improving and streamlining the features we have and developing new features.

  • Well, not really a game, but this is what i'm working on currently:

    <img src="http://i166.photobucket.com/albums/u86/Kaosjkm/v0065Both.png">

    After a few more characters i'll probably move on to BG art for a bit...

  • Ashley = Tigerworks.

    MIND = BLOWN

    I did not know that before. NOW This makes sense.

    I just heard about this place on SFGHQ yeeeears ago, back when the old forum was still up.
