I run C2 inside a VM on my Mac with no problems at all.

it will be way better if we wouldnt have to use the VM, i use one too and its really slows the development process

i hope c3 will launch early 2017 at least in beta, cause i really need a osx support.

    > i think the problem with people talking about c3 (i include myself there) is that, c3 was announced maybe before reaching a stable build, do we know since when is the scirra team working on C3? because if they started working on it the day they announced it, then we will have to wait 2 more years...

I promise you that people would've noticed that the updates got cut shorter than usual, so I think it's a good thing that we got to know why.

To all the news requests, I can only agree with you guys.

I mean we don't need a whole book about the most recent features that have been added to C3.

Tweets like: "Hey it was a pain to add * feature for Linux but I finally got it running!", would be enough news for me

personally and you can't deny that a short tweet like that would cost more than a minute.

we just want to know if is 3D or not, so we wont start to think about things that it wont have..

  • when are we going to be able to create a new object using an already ingame png as sprite? it will be 10000 better if we could just create an object and set just the root of where the png is to grab the png instead of having a png for every single object...

i think the problem with people talking about c3 (i include myself there) is that, c3 was announced maybe before reaching a stable build, do we know since when is the scirra team working on C3? because if they started working on it the day they announced it, then we will have to wait 2 more years...

  • well, since most of you guys know, is been a while since nintendo announced that they are running a 3DS indie devkit for different game engines, and i was wondering, since we already can ask for the WiiU devkit as a construct2 developer, is there any chance that we will see a 3DS devkit for construct2 too? i mean, not now but in a near future (at least 1 year from now if is not in development)

  • its simple, by using events you can just do "player|on collision with: obstacle" and then in the action you put what you want the player to do.

and please use this subforum to ask stuff

Best I can tell from looking at the events is they have to be done in order, and triggers can be run at any time.

Basically the the three events are:

"every tick" which calculates the stating velocities

"the input check" which launches an actual physics object with the calculated velocities

"the loop" which takes the calculated velocities and simulates physics steps to find the path of the ball.

So if you want to launch a ball with a trigger such as a function you need to run the every tick event first somehow. Could be as simple as copying it.

thanks! i did figure out a way to do it, im doing an angry birds clone just for learning so thats why i was needing the help, what i did it was this:

this can simulate a trigger input, so if everyone needs help doing this, they can just do that (the variable "resortera" means slingshot in spanish is just a condition for a state in my project so you can ignore it)

thanks a lot for the capx, it helped me a lot, i did some small modifications to it to have a more realistic angle and i may upload a demo so everyone can see the small tweaks i did

  • For the undamped version add an action to the top of event 4 to set step to mouse.x/vx/11.

    Or in general:

    (targetx-startx)/vx/loop_length

For the damped version it is more complicated. The basic objective is taking the equations for x and y positions and solving for the time when x and y are at the mouse.

i know this is old but this is the best example of how to do a parabola, is there a way that i can change the even that launches the ball for an input? when i do it it doesnt work, for example "on touched object" as i want to do a button on screen that launches it, i also tried with functions but didnt work.
