  • The Atari 2600 had one of the longest lifespans of any game system, even though I've played Atari simulators like the Atari Flashback for the ps2 and owned a Atari Flashback 2 I've never experienced the homebrew Atari Games until I found something. The Stella Atari Emulator. I have a link to it on my website in the applications section. (I haven't had time to publish the changes I've made, but I will when I get home). Anyway I put it on there because I am interested in making Homebrew ATARI 2600 games. I downloaded the Visual Batari BASIC program which is made to make ATARI 2600 games, I'm doing this mainly because I need to learn some programming and because it would be fun. What are you guy's thoughts on this?

    My thought is... "Open Topic"?

Pretty cool little program. Just place as many squares as you want on the grid, choose which direction you want each of them to travel, and then sit back as they bounce around and create music.

Nice way to waste some time if you're bored.

  • I get 20-24 fps using Firefox 4.0 (WinXP)

    Athlon X2 4400

    2.5g ram

    Zotac Ion 512mb

    How old is your cpu?

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • You have 4 health bars and 4 rocket bars, right?

  • Aw, I spoke too soon.

Several times now in the Green Zone the screen goes black except for the health/ammo bars. The game doesn't lock up or anything... you just can't see what is going on.

It seems to happen completely at random. I wasn't going through a doorway into a new room when it happened. I'll try resetting my computer and see if that makes it stop.

  • Nice. I think The Cinema Snob reviewed the game this was from...

    Anyway, it runs perfectly smooth on my computer;

    Athlon X2 4400

    2.5g ram

    Zotac Ion 512mb

  • I've played up to the Green Zone and so far I haven't had any problems with crashes or controls messing up. The only *tiny* glitch that I've seen is one of the creatures that crawl around platforms got stuck at one point and started shaking.

Not really worth mentioning, though. The gameplay is spot on and I really like the art style/music.

  • Ohhhhh. Okay. Thanks, Dan(ny).

I've only seen the pilot episode of Adventure Time, but I liked it. I guess I should give the actual series a try.

  • What do you do with the boxes? I know you can move them with the right mouse button, but...?

Anyway, the visuals are outstanding and it's fun to play for a while, but it does get a little repetitive. Do you just have to survive for a specific time, or is there something else that triggers the end of each stage?

  • What show is your Avatar/signature from? I've been seeing avatars with the rainbow-colored Pegasus on a few different forums and they never mention the origin.

I can't be the only one wondering this...

  • The ridiculous and controversial clothing of Gaga is why she's famous. If all Gaga had going for her was her music then she would already be forgotten.

If you can get people talking then you can make up for your mediocre music.

  • Could, but it's highly unlikely that the performance of Canvas will be sufficient on 3DS.

But isn't HTML5 still early in it's implementation? Nintendo must understand that cell phones are a very real alternative to dedicated handheld platforms. It would be foolish of Nintendo not to recognize the growing market for cheap, quickly playable games that do not require a serious investment of time.

  • However, I believe the 3DS browser will have proper HTML5 support, so there's that.

I hope you're right. That could go a long way towards giving Construct 2 greater recognition.

  • But im taking my time with this game.Drawing creatures and tanks etc...isn't easy. And Creating 3d models to render them to 2d sprites is definitely not a walk in the park either.Once im done with everything i will post some screenshots and some Concept art pics of the game.

If you have no specific deadline for making this game then please just take your time and don't feel like you need to rush. So far the most complete games from Construct have been 2d platformers (there is NOTHING wrong with that!) so a racing /assault type game would be a nice addition to the list of what Construct can do.
