  • DESTRUCTOID famous.

    http://www.destructoid.com/want-another-new-metroid-game-check-out-minitroid-182072.phtml

    I think this is the fourth Construct game that I've seen mentioned on a popular gaming site (Kotaku is another). Kinda cool to see it happen every once in a while.

    Well... the pressure is on now, good sir!

  • Simple enough but fun. Nice work!

    Maybe add a timer and a point bonus based on how quickly you beat each level? It would add a little more challenge in trying to get the highest score possible.

    Maybe also a bonus for *not* using bombs?

  • Damn, seems like this bug was caused by sound channels, I load 5-8 files into channels per layout. Btw what are your pc specs?

    It's probably just because my computer is so old. I doubt anyone else will have the same problem.

    WinXP Home

    3.0ghz Athlon XP

    2 gig DDR

    Radeon 9800pro

    AC'97 (onboard audio)

  • Strange... it starts up just fine until I click on "New Game", and then I can hear the music and sound effects but all I see is white (it isn't frozen, though).

    I'll have to try it on a different computer.

  • Bullet Heaven! (I'm tired of "bullet hell" )

    I haven't looked through the .cap yet so what was the most time-consuming part of making your demo? Was it getting the bullet patterns *just right* or was it the general stuff related to making most games?

    My only (small) complaint for the demo is that I was expecting a smaller hitbox for your fighter.

    Anyway, great work!

  • Okay, now it's working.

  • Try Construct 3

    Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

    Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • When I click the "Click here to start download" button it doesn't start, it just opens up a hotjobs ad.

    (dropbox!)

  • Oh.

    Well... it's a very nice texture, then.

    Is this project inspired by "Elite" in any way?

  • What, no custom icon for the .exe?

    (I kid, I kid )

    Very cool! The bump mapping on the lava planets in particular looks great.

  • I saw a video about this technique some time ago.

    I'm not sure what to think. There is an extreme amount of skepticism about their claims (unsurprisingly) so until they have something that people can actually test for themselves it will probably just remain a curiosity.

    ...like ray tracing engines?

  • Well with fangames I am referring to Sonic, Mario, Megaman, Street Fighter and the such not the retro ones, the retro fangames are cool tough.

    Well... depending on which game in the series that you're referring to it COULD Be retro.

    Anyway, I doubt that anyone is really going to have a problem with fangames.

    There are no fangame-specific tutorials aimed at new users like there is with "Ghost Shooter", so if someone makes a fangame then they are at least recreating it's gameplay through skill/innovation.

    Still, it's a bit harsh to outright BAN all GS Clones. A sticked thread for newcomers to post their first success with making a GS Clone sounds fair enough. People have to start SOMEWHERE, after all.

  • Very relaxing, Tulamide.

  • Platforming with jet packs and guns? I'm sold.

    Are you doing the music yourself?

  • I don't understand why BP doesn't just allow open calls for volunteers and make them sign some kind of waiver when they arrive at the site. You truly learn nothing whatsoever from this class so you would be just as prepared as if you didn't attend.

    Another question from the test;

    True/False?

    You should know the name of your safety supervisor and how to contact them.

  • Ugh... what a total joke that was.

    ALL training is performed on the site if you get called. The "class" that I just got back from was nothing more than a 4 hour presentation on work safety (it's actually supposed to be 6 hours).

    Essentially BP has you take this class so that they can say;

    "If you help at the site of a spill and do something to hurt yourself then you ABSOLUTELY CANNOT blame us for it."

    The safety lessons were mind numbing. The presenter basically just repeated what was written on each slide and repeated the same basic points over and over again.

    Here is an actual question from the test that you have to pass to be qualified to volunteer at a clean up site;

    True or False?

    Weathered Oil is very sticky.

    I shit you not.

    The entire class could have been an hour and a half, and that's including introductions, breaks and the test.
