  • This has the potential to be a really cool game

  • Also there definitely is a possibility to make good racing games in C2:

Is this a C2 game, or have you just linked to a clip of random game?

  • I'm afraid you're too slow, this gimmicky frenzy is puffed up like a red star exhaling it's last breath before collapsing into nothingness. That bird has flown and had its day (thank goodness - ok, so I'm not afraid of this fact).

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Check your badges and see if you got the "1 Million Day" badge

The badges haven't been awarded yet. Either Ashley or Tom said the badges will be awarded tomorrow (presumably when the data is retrieved). The same person said that if you've clicked download, you'll be in it, full stop.

    Edit: and what Datapaw wrote.

  • Or maybe he's from a competitor's game and came over to try and tarnish my reputation.

This is delusional. No 'evil enemy competitor' is going to waste their own money like this. Is your game really going to be this uniquely special?

Ok, that over, Haven't you seen those tele-commercials selling all kinds of junk. Take your inspiration from their terms & conditions if you're bothered by this.

  • Flash would be big on mobile, because flash is the bi-word of cheap quality 2 minute games.

  • I was curious as to why you'd be using "construct2 r139", so I googled it.

You won't get help with that version, firstly because everybody is on r163, and secondly..., well it doesn't need to be said really.

You've been using it for what, 6 months. Scirra even has had a special sale since then. What you need is to go to a newer version of C2.

  • KKND was one of the last great Australian made games. If I remember correctly, they even had the typical Aussie corro-tin roofs.

  • Outside of a bit of Kong, the only game I'm playing is a management style game called Cycling for Fun.

I guess it's a case of been then there, played that.

  • My bad, I misread Aphrodite's reply to OP.

  • Is this true? I can't test this yet, but I recall a beginner's tutorial stating the array starting at 0,0.

  • Steam stats say XP usage is around 10%, and steam's demographic is the same as the one you're probably aiming for. XP usage stats are

If you believe that 17.5% of the market is Russian, then maybe you should learn to speak the language.

  • Ashley is a veteran of the industry, he was already a veteran back when I started, and I have 14 years of experience with this sort of dev tool, so I like to think my opinion carries some weight.

Windows XP is too old to even be considered! Why don't you go ahead and ash Ashley to support internet explorer 6 as well?

Windows XP is 13 years old! When XP was launched, not even windows 3.1 was that old! That would be equivalent to you booting up your XP machine for the first time and hearing someone extol the virtues of windows 2.0! I'm sorry, windows XP isn't even a factor anymore.

Except, XP is on almost 30% of all computers which use the internet daily. 30% is a massive factor, regardless of how old the system is. And I suspect it'll continue to be a massive factor until either Microsoft replaces its village idiot, or Chromebooks is upgraded to become truly PC (instead of PC lite).

And as far as your 'opinion' carrying 'weight', if you've so keen to belittle such as large demographic, then no, your opinion doesn't carry any weight when it comes to commerciality.

  • Just my opinion, though. Cue someone to come in here and defend Windows XP until the cows come home, I guess.

It's funny you know, people said the same stuff when Vista came out. And guess what, Vista's dead, and just under 30% of (daily utilised) internet linked computers still use XP. Windows XP will last another 2 or 3 years yet, by which time Windows 7 will be dead. So you could ask, why are you touching Win7, it's dead and buried.

[quote:2ob6fqzk]There are so many basic things that Windows XP cannot even do that it boggles the mind why people still even use it.

AS a XP user, there's not a single important program I've come across which doesn't run on it. XP can run newer programs. Yet Win7 has all sorts of capacity troubles with all sorts of programs (And Win7 backwards capability is a fail). There are so many useful programs Win7 can't use, it boggles my mind why people have ever used it.

See, there are two sides to the coin, and attempting to ground off the face of one side is grudging without sense. While there's a significant proportion of the market still using any system, it's beneficial to tap into that market. When there isn't, only then is it dead.

  • It doesn't really matter what the overall usage is because Steam represents the largest computer gaming market by far (although it does depend on who you want money from).

Wow, I just had a look at their survey data. Over 17% speak Russian?

    [quote:35cdspbe]English 49.88%+0.48%

    Russian 17.48% -0.68%

    German 5.38% +0.08%

    Spanish 4.76% -0.13%
