  • All a can say of WoW is WOW! (although probably not in the way they envision).

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

Try Now Construct 3 users don't see these ads
  • Well this is taken from actual browser data (February 2014), not a survey.

    XP 29.53%

    Win7 47.31%

Not saying the Steam claims are wrong, just that they appear out of line with what overall usage is, plus a survey isn't as reliable as hard data.

  • The XP/Vista thing is a shame, I'm suprised 10% of steam users still use it.

I'm surprised that only 10% of users use it (if true), because almost 30% of computers on the net are still running XP. (43%? for Win7).

  • Is there a cap, or a tutorial about how to do this?

(yes I know it's an older thread, but I've been searching for info on combat creation - without a great deal of luck).

  • In most countries, you can operate as a sole trader, using your own personal tax number. You generally don't need a business license to make or sell games. You can also have the option of registering a business name to be linked with your personal tax number (this helps with branding your products).

But of course you have to check with your own country's taxation department for an 100% answer.

The same applies with any gaming website you want to post/sell/etc your games on.

    >

Yes you can. You set the default value when you create the instance variable, but the individual objects can have individual independent instance variable values (which you can change whenever you want for each individual object seperately).

Cool, thx. I'll keep this in mind for when I get that far (just learning the program at the moment).

  • Number of people working on the project doesn't matter.

1 person earning $6000 total from 1 or more projects is a business licence.

10 people earning $3000 total from one or more projects isn't a business licence.

I do have a technical follow up question though. If there's say 4 people working together, and the project earns $8000 in total, meaning $2000 per person, is this a business licence? (might wish to define this in terms & conditions).

  • Start here: http://opengameart.org/

Be careful of the licencing requirements of that site.

[quote:1nxjzg4f]Technicallyall of the art on this site is legal for use in commercial projects -- however, some of the licenses require you to distribute the source code of your entire project for free, and allow others to distribute the source for free as well.

  • I'd like to ask a further question.

If I want 5 enemies to randomly have health between 20 & 30, can I set an instance value of Health 20, and then set an event random command to give the individual enemies randomly different health?

  • Nice! Gotta download Construct 2 on that day!

You can download it before, and just re-download it again on the day of the competition.

  • A clone ? Dayz is the original one. The others are clones.

Given that Dayz started in alpha in late 2012, and similar zombie games had version 2s out prior to this, Dayz is hardly the original. Dayz might be better (quite possible), but it's not the original.

Most impressive videogame made with Construct 2.

Are you sure this is true? I hadn't read anything saying this.

  • Sounds like an advanced clone of several zombie games available on Kong.

  • Wouldn't it have been smarter to have tested your abilities at earning money making games before quitting your job. You're on the dole, aren't you?

  • Nothing kills immersion like playing a video game with an evil, gritty villain who never once utters a curse word.

You do realise that the world's first recorded murderer was allegedly a vegetarian who probably wouldn't have swore in his life. So was Hitler, and he was an animal rights activist to boot. Did Hitler ever swear? Can't be bothered checking. If you want a proper quality villain, you need to get pass the one dimension.

  • Just to verify, on the page you link to, that counter at the top will update every new download, right? Because if not, I don't know where to check when you've reached the millionth download.

It doesn't matter. The counter updates/corrects (with steam downloads) every 5 - 10 minutes. The 'competition' is for any unique download for

    24 hours afterwards

. So as long as you download once in the

    24 hours

, then you have an entry.

And if you're paranoid, just download the thing once a day.
