And yeah, I'm not on Steam yet but soon will be. Still, PC gamers I know don't really care about achievements.... then again I don't know many Steam suscribers personally.

and it's cool that your fellow steammates can see as you unlock something

and valve usually has clever names for them

btw, steam is f'in awesome

better than xboxlive and free

Well, you either like them or you don't give a shit about it.

Achievements to me are sort of an evolution for high scores. Who really cared about high scores for games like Super Mario Bros? The score had no effect on the game, but some people still compared their scores. Love em, hate em... they virtually take no development time to do and people have a bit more to squeeze out of their games.
