• Hey folks!

Just wanted to share my first creation with you. But before I do that, I would like to say that it is simply and ugly. Well, if I had the knowledge to build something like that in the 80s, I should be rich right now... Nah...

Ok, back on topic! It is a small arena with enemies spawning from the corners. You get points for surviving and killing mobs.

Here: geekgear.com.br/games/tinyarena

Arrow keys control movement, while the spacebar brings the destruction out!

Things I would love to do:

• Add HiScore table;
• Add some art;
• Add intro and "Game Over" screens;
• Add some currency;
• Add a weapon and item shop;
• Let the user save the state so he can get back and play with the upgrades he bought;
• Adapt it for smartphones and tablets
• Publish in app stores
• ???
• Profit!

Haha... I think I will have a good cup of NOPE. ;)

On a serious note, I really would love to improve it.

• Nice one, felt like I was playing an atari 2600 game XD Love those old games. I would suggest you to change the controls scheme. Mouse control would be better for this type of game IMO or at least something like the binding of Isaac where the direction you are moving and where are you shooting at are independent.

• Thanks for the feedback! I want to test with controls, but never tought about mouse. That could be fun!

• as lmchucho said, i had a lot of trouble with your control scheme. Is very hard to play with just 8 directions

I suggest you try 8 direction to move and mouse click to shoot

• Promising, but you have to fix them controls, man. I like the style.

• I think the keyboard with 8-direction would work fine if the angle wasn't changed when you stop moving. As it is, you have to fly straight at enemies to hurt them unless they are on the same x/y axis. I can see it having a lot of potential with improved controls. Good job

• Thanks guys, and sorry for the late response. I'm using this game to build something bigger, but I want to give it another go before jumping projects.

I will take a look at the controls. Also, I noticed that if I press up arrow + left arrow it will simply not fire. Weird...

Thanks for the feedback!

• Also, you should add the wrap behavior to the player instead of having boundaries. Just an opinion though.

• Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

• Nice work.

• Just wanted to say, it looks good. I Also think it would play better with a different control scheme. The mouse aim would be nice, but it it could also work well with asteroid type movement where pressing the arrow keys turns the player by a few degrees and pressing up or down makes the ship fly in that direction.

• As everyone said : MOUSE ! Haha.

See that game for your game control scheme : http://www.newgrounds.com/portal/view/638750

Your game is cool, i had to try a lot for scoring 3608 points (i let me die).

When we reach the third weapon, the game stay at the same point : same speed, same number of ships. So if i wanted to continue, i could reach 10K points easily.

It can be an evolution you can add

• Thanks guys! It means alot to me to have your feedback.

• A very interesting and clear tutorial. I'm trying out physics in my games right now!

• GOOOOD
