  • Hi, i do vidéo games for living about 20 years now.

Sorry for my engligh in advance.

After only 10 days on C2 we see the limits.

    A *REAL GAME NEED :

    A) Direct X & Open GL export (engine)

    B) Repertory in layer tab (i have at this moment 205 layers its ridiculous !) Using repertory can help us all to arrange our elements.

    C) Choose or NOT CHOOSE if you want JS as main engine (small game) OR D.X. + open GL (Big game)

    D) TAG in dev (i mean, when you have a screen of 500000 long you need TAG for jump at the keypoint of your gameplay)

    E) Stability when you press EXECUTE, at this moment JS is simply not stable and HTML5 is the most horrible engine for stability !

Open GL = Doing games with high compatibility in PC / MAC / LINUX / ""XBOX LIVE / PS LIVE""

WITHOUT = Apple store, web store at best.

Direct X = windows support > we need it to do test.

    AND THATS ALL !

For the moment we do a Preview Game in Construct CLASSIC because we can see a DX export without MANY BUGS and have REAL exemple

of what we can have, at end. But when we reach 40% of the game design/dev, we stop, and we do a deal with edition company

to RE BUILD our game in a real multisuport platfrom engine using C++/DX . . .

*Real Game : not a 1985 game, a copy of a mastersytem game, or dodle jump, an aéra game with small limits.

    TO BE CLEAR :

ADD DIRECT X & Open GL IN CONSTRUC2 AND WE CAN MAKE BIG VIDEO GAMES

(Import CC DX EXPORT ON C2 it is a good start) or it is only for html 5 and android platforms ?

  • I dont know where you from but if you want something you need to be more polite and humble.

    Thanks and regards,

  • DirectX in Linux?

  • Use Unity, or CryEngine, or Unreal... seriously there are many choices. C2 is HTML5, get over it.

  • directx= doing games for microsoft products (windows8).

Opengl=Doing games with high compatibility in PC / MAC / LINUX / ""XBOX LIVE / PS LIVE""

why do you think construct2 is only on windows? Its using directx <img src="{SMILIES_PATH}/icon_lol.gif" alt="" title="Laughing">

There is so much irony in the way you are misinformed, it blows my mind.

Industry is dropping directx for opengl atm. Thanks to Valve and steamOs. And partly microsoft, for screwing game developers and themselves up.

[quote:3b3kc4a9]Basically, almost every Windows game has a graphics engine — and that engine uses specific APIs (functions) provided by Direct3D. Direct3D, which interfaces between the game and the GPU, is only available on Microsoft platforms (Windows, Xbox). ToGL intercepts the calls to Direct3D, replacing them with the OpenGL equivalent. There’s a performance hit, of course, but it’s small. (I’ve played Dota 2 and Left 4 Dead 2 on OS X, and it runs just fine.)

Steam LinuxNow, considering this only supports Direct3D 9.0c, ToGL isn’t going to suddenly allow newer Direct3D 11 games to be brought over to Linux/OS X (unless they have DX9 legacy support, of course). What it will do, though, is allow big studios to re-release older titles on OS X and Linux/SteamOS — and if there are any indie developers out there who develop games in DirectX, they obviously stand to gain as well. Let’s not forget that Valve rather famously said back in 2012 that OpenGL is faster than DirectX, even on Windows, too

they did that and suddenly cry engine and unreal decided to get ported to linux

    Well use something else then

  • Why demand a flashlight on your can-opener if the can-opener opens cans without it?

  • As far as I know, IE, Chrome and Firefox actually implement their WebGL backends with DirectX. So Construct 2 games on Windows already use it.

If you encounter bugs, please report them to us! As far as we are aware, the engine is robust for the vast majority of users. If you just make posts like this complaining about problems without actually specifically identifying them, we have no chance of fixing them.

    A. Kind of hard to believe you are making games for 20 years when you clearly don't know what DirectX is, but you want it ... DirectX running on MAC / LINUX / PS LIVE

    B. What kind of game did you make that you need 205 layers ? Or do you mean layouts (levels/rooms) ?

    C. After a simple search on Google, read the forums or if you tried the Free version you could clearly see that Construct 2 is only a HTML5 Game Engine, no native exporting.

    D. Can't argue with this one, it would be really useful (if is not implemented already).

    E. Yes, since HTML5 is not completed* there are some compatibility issues. Still, you won't find 100% bug free software.

I actually enjoy Super Mario ... Is that not a "REAL GAME" ?

I can't take it seriously that you are making games for 20 years when you chose Construct 2 to make your "BIG REAL GAME"... Is like choosing Adobe Flash to make Crysis or Assasin's Creed

Also, spoiler: "Construct Classic" has been discontinued ... It says here with bold text and a yellow box that you can't miss

[quote:14pjf0qp]After only 10 days on C2 we see the limits.

WE (ALL) don't have time to waste with weak software engine.

It took you 10 days to see that C2 can't make AAA games as Unity, CryEngine or UnrealEngine

[quote:14pjf0qp]And simply destroy our CC files, beacause it is no use anymore !

THIS IS STUPID AND NOT GOOD FOR SCIRRA, AT END, REAL COMPANY KNOW: SCIRRA WAS NOT PROFESSIONAL EDITOR AND DO TOY !

Even if you can't export CC to C2, you still have all your assets and can manually do the transfer.

You should try GameMaker: Studio if you want professional look ... 800$ of software full of bugs and low customer support, but it looks professional

Also, keep in mind that you are paying only 100 Euro for a software that exports games playable on many platforms and does not require coding skills to create them.

  • all > yes opengl sorry sorry sorry my mistake it was late.

Silverforce > To complex to make 2d games but yes powerfull.

blurymind > thanks for the news (your last links)

TGeorgeMihai > open gl .my mistake.

205 Layers yes and it is a minimum for a complex game with high quality graphics with multiscolling

free version can't reveal the real potential of the software

Ashley > Can i send you a file ? and you execute it, you see we have skipped frames and because of that it is not 100% fluid.

  • If you are using 205 layers, you are doing something wrong, and a more efficient renderer is the least of your problems.

  • If it's true, I feel really sad for your last 20 years. You're even wrong with the definition of the real game. The real game makes people impressed, touched, and hooked. What you're saying is like "Only the blockbuster action movie rules. All the others are crap.", which is absolutely wrong. People also love them, and you can't say they are just toy.

If you want to make the big-scale game with eye-popping effects, you can use other tools. C2 is already great by itself for the real games.

  • 205 layers shouldn't make a big difference. Filling all those layers up to the hilt with graphics will.

I will agree that the layers dialog could use some upgrades however.

Btw DX12 should be out soon.

  • If you've been making videogames for 20 years I definitely don't think you'd be using Construct 2, but rather using one of the many other AAA game IDEs that are out there, so I'm definitely calling shenanigans on that claim.

Secondly, coming in shouting and roaring about Scirra being stupid and making a weak game engine is going to get you the sum total of zero help or acknowledgement.

    Unreal Engine 4

    Unity

    Game Maker Studio
