I see what you mean, the transparent pixels extend farther up than one expects. It didn't wind up being an issue for me because I first clicked on the link, and then the second time I saw it, closed it with the X and never saw it again.
I'll have to double-check at home. I didn't notice any problems earlier, but it bears investigation.
No problems in Chrome for me.

The fighter's very easy to maneuver, and the frame rate was generally 60, although it would occasionally flicker to 59.

Indeed. Deaths were usually dead ends. Normal scores are circa 700, but the average gets dragged down by 150sthe and such.
