  • Hi Zsangerous!

Perhaps the math is the same everywhere, but the language may differ for people. I had a visit from my son who is a 3D artist, programmer, and special effects director. I asked him what lerp was and he did not know what the heck I was talking about. When I showed it to him he said "Aha!... linear interpolation". He knew the function, yet by a different name. I learned basic math in the 60's, fast forward 50 years and try to help a youngster with division etc. and so much has changed in the way they teach it! I'm a person who has a ton of difficulty until I can visualize in my mind what is really happening with the equation. I would love to see a great math tute on this site that explains the formulas, along with a capx that can be manipulated for learning purposes. If you are like me Zsangerious, you could probably recreate with great precision the colors and pattern of a piece of fabric or something that you have not set eyes on for years (or in my case decades). Yet it is difficult to remember math equations not visualized. I can totally visualize the basic math, and can balance my checkbook in my head. Yet I don't seem to understand things that come second nature to the left brained masses.

  • Just scare them away perhaps.

  • Hi Alexey!

I had my hands full and did not try to open your capx until this morning. I could not open the file because it had a plugin that I guess my version not compatible with.

I'll make sure I have the latest version.

I appreciate every ones help. SOMEDAY I WILL ARRAY!

  • Perhaps you can create a game where children can create or build things, rather than destroy them.

  • Hey Ashley!

Thanks for clearing that up for me. It can be an extremely daunting task trying to sort the truth from the horsey poo poo on the net these days.

Now I'm a little behind on trying them out... I'd better get busy (before the brown dwarf arrives).

  • Hi all,

I wanted to mess around with the new shader's. I noticed my browsers webgl setting was off by default. Not knowing how to activate it, I searched the net for "how to's" on activating it. I noticed a lot of articles claiming that enabling the shader's would leave your computer vulnerable to different sorts of threats, and should not be used while surfing the net for other purposes. Does anyone know anything more about these claims?

  • Did you try adjusting the angular damping in the limbs physics properties?

I'm pretty much a newbie, but I am awake pretty early in my corner of the planet. I hope this idea helps you.

  • Did you try using a ogg file also?

I was also wondering if you tried "on start of layout...preload music?

I could never get the sound to load the same time every run, so I set it up to start about 6 to 8 seconds in. I used a couple of really small sound files in the beginning to fill the gap.

Hope that helps, I'm just a bit of a newbie too.

  • ramones,

Thank you for you offer of guidance. I just got back from vacation, and appreciate seeing your invite to learn more. I'll holler when I need a hand.

  • Hi Ramones,

Thank you very much for your input. I was not following every step exactly as in your tutorial. However I thought by knowing how to access the panels in your guide, it would help me to navigate through the following processes. I was actually trying to set up chord arrays to store notes (sound file info). However I have a big weekend coming up, and as soon as I can get my browser to display the new effects, I'll probably be spending most of time working with those. I may just learn to do arrays in js first.

Again thanks Ramone I'm glad you seem to understand some of my frustration.

  • Thank you Yan!

I was able to set up two arrays following the tutorial using "on start of layout" as you mentioned.

    The tutorial then says...

To retrieve a value from the array we can use

       1| Array.At(index)

This step baffles the dog donuts out of me as well.

How do I use the line above?

    Then the following step...

To set the variable animal to the first animal in the array:

there is an image of a panel titled...

    "parameters for system: Set Value

Not sure how to access that panel either.

However, I really do not have the time for this right now. Even with a basic understanding of events and actions, etc. I still cannot follow this tutorial on my own.

I'm done ripping into Alexey's thread.

I'm going to just wait for a step by step tutorial.

  • Hi,

Yeah its me again. I started following the tutorial, but hit my first big snag right in the beginning on the first page under "Setting Values". The tutorial shows a panel titled "Add Action" with the system, array, and text, as its choices. To be honest I searched for quite some time (nearly 2 hrs) throughout the forums and website for a possible missing step. I thought you could only add an action following an event or condition. However the first step in the tutorial goes straight to an action panel. Should there be an event or condition to build from? I do not know how to add an action with out it following an event or condition.

I'm curious how far Alexey made it into the tutorial, and or got his questions figured out. Anyhow that is probably the step that tripped me up the last time I tried out the tute. I quite confident though once I get the first part figured out, the rest of the tutorial will not be to difficult.
