  • I feel like I'm being a bit dense, but where is the timeline? I've enabled experimental features, but can't find it anywhere... is it a window? A context menu?

  • It stands to reason that the most popular screen recorder will made in such a way that allows it to record a wide array of applications without issue (thus it's popularity).

It's argued that a C3 game compiled with NW.js is equal to Electron in every way, except for seemingly the ability to work with screen recorders.

I think it's logical to conclude that the fault lies with nw.js - the screen recorder works with the vast majority of programs but not nw.js, making nw.js an edge case, but it does work with Electron, which uses the same underlying technology.

It's fair to assume that nw.js either hasn't implemented something correctly, or Electron is going a step further in some way.

    EDIT//

Despite all of this, it's more fair to argue that the onus to providing a successful software recording experience lies with the developer of the recording software, not the software being recorded.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Ashley If SVG would be off-canvas, couldn't we get around layering with z-index? Divs could form a new layer system, which can float under the canvas. This would kind of blend into the requests to add more DOM functionality to C3 (admittedly I don't think many people request this).

Unsure if this helps with the WebGL:

  • SVG would be absolutely amazing - the sheer reduction in file size for ultra minimalist mobile games would be fantastic, and the crispness of shapes are a huge bonus.

Sadly I remember something about a canvas limitation the last time this was bought up, but I remain hopeful.

  • If you change the file extension to .zip you'll be able to explore the file as you would any other archive, from here I guess you could rename any duplicate files and then resave with the c3p extension

Having a look now, I can't see any duplicate file names, but there are 100s of animations and I've only skimmed

    EDIT//

Scanning with CCleaner states there aren't duplicate filenames, however I guess in-engine references could be different.

  • On Google Fonts you can download the font by clicking the Local Font Download buttonin the top right hand corner of the selected font panel (above the embed codes)

  • I think the solution for private messaging would be best kept off site - in today's GDPR focused world a private messaging platform raises all kinds of data protection questions that you'd need a lawyer and a stiff drink to field properly, and that simply isn't conducive for a software house.

Having an email field on your profile that only appears to users that your following could be a workaround.

  • I'm not sure what this would achieve? All websites technically exist as server references, a domain name is just easier to remember

  • I submitted this as an idea for C3, but it didn't really pick up any traction: construct3.ideas.aha.io/ideas/C3-I-305

There is no built in way to achieve this; you could likely work around this with some kind of automated file merge macro, but that's more of a computing problem. It would be great to see Scirra add this in.

  • Does anyone know of a way of editing the HTML export? Attempting to add content around the canvas element is harder in C3 as the canvas will automatically place itself as the last element within the body.

Ideally I'd like to avoid iframes, so I'm editing the export HTML directly.
