  • This project was interesting to me, I regularly back people in kickstarter and indiegogo.

But with all projects i look at the time scale they state for their intention to complete. In my opinion I think if a game says it will take longer than 9 months then for me I would rather wait for its release and pay then when I know what I am getting.

It seems there are a lot of games appearing on kickstarter like the above that have had no development time and are saying they wont be released till 2014 or later, with little actual idea of what the final product will be.

I wish them good luck and if they create a decent oldschool rpg like fallout then I will buy it but until then Id rather keep my money, wait and see what they actually do.

  • Hi everyone,

I am about to start designing a new game which I hope to release as a pay what you want to play game.

The reason I am posting is because I was considering streaming my work in construct 2 as I create it.

    Wondered what people thought etc?

  • Hello,

I am currently building a game called Spatial-Flux, so far I have been building the game with free images available from other indie developers. But I want to take the game to the next level so I am now looking for a game sprite artist who can help create new sprites for all the different areas of the game.

I will likely start with commissioning a small amount of work and then will run a crowdfunding project at some point to complete the game and release it.

Ideally I will be looking for an artist to create sprites (some with animations) for 2D spaceships (E.g. like space pirates and zombies) weapons, objects, and structures in space.

I will also be looking for someone to design a nice looking menu, buttons, background etc.

The game already has a character artist on board, who will be building our games cut scenes and character portraits and images for events and when talking to alien races and human npc's. The portraits and cut scenes are being designed a heavily anime influenced style. So ideally I would like the game sprites to offer a similar anime/realistic quality.

If you think you can do any of the above then either reply, mesg me or email me at tilley_adamkca@hotmail.com

    thank you.

  • lol sorry bout the title... getting ahead of myself.

    Edited and corrected

  • Hi,

Clicking on a sprites 'edit' Animations option causes construct 2 to crash:

    <img src="http://www.whentheskyfalls.com/images/working.png" border="0" />

I am running win 7 64bit edition, and this particular sprite is a gif file.

  • Hi, not sure if this is a big or not.

Basically when i press preview and it opens chrome a lot of the time the window just hangs and doesnt do anything, pressing refresh will often make the game then appear. Or if chrome is already on a webpage then it will appear in the preview straight away.

  • Hi everyone,

I have been building the prototype for my game Spatial Flux for the ;last few months, it is an Action Space game set in a 2D universe. You will be able to craft new systems, technology and engineer massive structures in space.

Anyway with the soon to release r100 of C2 and the exe exporter I have decided it is time to take my game to the next level and release it. But first I will be running an IndieGoGo crowd funding campaign to raise money to pay for new sprites, better music and sound effects etc.

I wondered if anyone had any advice to help etc. I will be hopefully starting the campaign either this weekend or next depending on how the filming of my intro video goes.

And any help would be appreciated, whether it is advice to help it succeed or if you can post the details of the campaign in other places that may be interested in it. Any help to make the campaign successful would be appreciated.

  • heh, thanks, i thought it was and when running it it certainly didnt load at all.. But i just wanted to check. I cant wait for r100 to be released.

  • Hi, i might be being stupid and i am sorry if i am, but does this exe wrapper mean i can download the zip file and then run it on my computer without needing any internet connection e.g. it wont try to connect when i first run it or anything. If so that really is awesome and i really cant wait till r100.

Just wanted to double check :)

  • no[pe i gavce up and moved away from facebook, and my games now rely more on local scoreboards, which are fairly easy to make using global variables.

  • Sargas: The 8 move behaviour is incompatible with standard rotation in the spaceship plugin behaviour. Even if rotation is turned off; essentially moving left always moves the player left on the screen regardless of what direction they are facing, this means they cannot strafe left in relation to their current angle, they can only move left across the screen.

d4n13l: I am happy to use events, I figured i would have to for this custom movement, however I cannot workout what events will create a thruster style movement going left and right, based ont he current angle of the ship. The ones you describe are obvious and allow you to move down and turn.. But those abilities I have already done. What I need is to be able to allow the ship to strafe left and right based on their current angle and as indicated in my original post I dont know how to do that.

Can anyone out there please help etermine how to create custom movement to strafe left and right in combination with spaceship style behaviours.

  • If a game is made freely available with embedable code then they can be embedded anywhere, usualyl these games include adverts of some kind so although they appear free each play earns the creator money.

Alternatively they use the games to funnel people towards their bigger paid games. The websites themselves usually have their own rules, your best bet is to visit their site and look for their rules on the embedding of games.

Also its worth noting a website can monitor via their webhost cpanel who is embedding their games on the websites so they would be able to determine a site has taken their game and a site wouldnt therefore be able to rip the game off, also most embedded games are encrypted or use secure frames, so you might be able to make the game appear on your website but you wouldnt be able to steal the actual game itself.

Most browser based embeddable games dont make much money, so naturally people want as many people to play it as possible, the more sites embedding a game the more people that play it, this potentially can mean more money will be made, or will allow the developer to become more known for his game and therefore make more people take notice of future games he/she releases.
