  • Depends on the type of high score system you want.

    If you want a local highscore system ie.. you play once it appears at number 1, second time if you beat your own score then it goes to number 1 if not it goes to number 2.. then this can be done with a variety of global variables and events (i am creating one in my game and when i am done Ill create a simple tutorial).

    If however you want online highscores so people can compete with other people, then your best bet is to incorporate Kongregates online scoreboards, or facebook plugin for scores. However a lot of people have tried and failed.

    Alternatively there is some information on these forums on having your game interract with an ponline php driven database, which could also allow for the creation of a highscore system.

  • Hi Fimbul, is there any chance you will add additional thruster options, I would for example like to see thrust left and thrust right (straffing).

    Is that possible?

  • hi, im sorry but that doesnt work, i am not using the car simulate i am using the spaceship behaviour. and that option is not there.

    Hi, dont worry about this after all, it seems the latest version of the plugin includes custom controls, i didnt realise mine was out of date.

    I am building a space game and at the moment the player has the spaceship behaviour movement, but i also want them to be able to have thruster control so they can thrust to the left and to the right.

    Can anyone advise how to do this with the custom movement behaviour.

    So my final controls ideally will be:

    W = Thrust forward

    S = Thrust backwards

    A = rotate left

    D = rotate right

    Q = Thrust left

    E = Thrust right.

    Any help greatly appreciated.

  • Hi, i thought there was an option so that if you have an object with the spaceship behaviour (e.g. up = thrust forward, left = rotate left etc) you could deactivate the standard controls and set new ones.

    I hope i am missing something obvious, but i need to change those controls to WASD instead of the arrow keys. (e.g. W = thrust forward, S = backwards, A = rotate left and D = rotate right)

    Can anyone advise how to do this please.

    After a little time away from this game, I am coming back to it, though I am changing it up quite a bit, same artstyle but a slightly different game, you will control a ship travelling through unknown space areas rather than defend a planet from incursions.

    Hope to have something to show everyone in the next week or so.

    About 2-3 weeks ago for no apparent reason I have stopped receiving emails when new blog posts appear or (more importantly) when new versions of construct 2 are made available.

    All my settings are setup correctly to receive the emails normally sent out so not sure why they suddenly arent being sent. Also the email address they come from is in in my safe list in hotmail so thats not stopping them from arriving.

    Hope you can help :)

    A tutorial on this combining it with events would be awesome naturally :).

  • Hi I am begining a new project whereby the player can see a map but can only see the geographical info. As the game continues the players influence increases and so they can see more things on the map e.g. cities armies etc.

    I realise I could make each individual item an image and it appears as the influence gets bigger, but ideally i would like to do it with two images. 1 which is the background and has everything on it and then a top image that has no objects on it.

    Then like the flashlight example the sphere of influence would show the sprite below rather than the top object or create a hole in the top sprite. I would ideally like to do it this way as it will be a lot easier to build the game with a simple set of events like this than creating every city and item on the map as a seperate object.

    Any thoughts on how this could be achieved?

  • Hey, I was just wondering if someone could take a look at the tutorials and delete the new pointless ones that are appearing, two people have now posted tutorials that are three lines long and basically copying the manual...

    I assume the two people are in fact the same person but who knows. As someone who looks for new tutorials every day it is quite annoying to see these pointless ones appear. Especially as they clutter up the tutorial list as well.

  • Hi please please can someone point me to where I am going wrong.

    I have a hi score on my Facebook game, but I cant seem to get it to show every ones scores only the number one score.

  • Hi,

    Can anyone show an example of how a Facebook leaderboard is created. I have set-up my game with Facebook login (tested in sandbox mode) and submitting a new score.

    But at the moment my leaderboard just shows one person on all 10 places, can anyone show a capx file or how the events would be done to make the leaderboard, would be very grateful as i have been banging my head against the wall trying to make it for some time now.
