    Good developers respect a good bug report regardless of where it comes from. The important thing is the report is clear and identifies a real problem.

    That's true. But not every company consists of good developers. Also not everyone has the resources to respond to every bug report users file. But if a report came from another company (representing more users at once) it could weight more.

  • So if I get this right, you want to a create a custom control setting function for your game. Just get the keycode or pressed button (from a gamepad) using expressions and store the value in a variable. Then you can build up your system around these expressions.

  • Hey guys I didn't want to be the GOD OF THE HOW DO I SECTION again like I was 6 months ago so I thought I'd ask my question here.

    I built my APK files yesterday on Intel XDK and a short preview that was initially 270 kb had an output APK file of 22mb and 62 mb installed on a phone. This game is a simple 1 screen game using 5 sprites total.

    What other NON-DEPRECATED export/APK options are available as of Nov 4, 2016?

    Do you have Android 5+? Try building without Crosswalk.

    Also there is Cocoon.io and PhoneGap to try.

    Just dropping my thoughts here on some recent topics:

    • Forget native. It has been discussed like a million times and Ashley even took the effort to write a detailed blog post about HTML5 vs native performance.
    • C2 has a great price and I still love the way they do licensing. Imagine that I have no internet access, but I want to activate my C2 license on my computer. I can do it easily. I could even develop in a cave (provided it has electricity).
    • If Scirra decides to raise the price with C3, I'd also pay it gladly. I just hope they don't plan on subscription model. I'd rather buy the engine for life, even if it's more expensive. Well.. they can do both the same time too. I'm just thinking out loud.
    • GMS2 looks promising but none of the new features got me really after watching the videos (except the new image editor, how they made the fire effect with it). Node-based visual coding will always lead to a mess in bigger projects and I'm yet to see a better implementation of it than UE4 Blueprints.
    • I'm excited about C3 just like most of you are here. I hope that we'll get something soon, but in the meantime I'm curious about what Fusion 3 will bring into the ring. Also, I think Scirra plays it's cards very well by waiting out.
    • I agree with what

      TheRealDannyyy wrote about handling 3rd party bugs. I understand if Scirra has no manpower to do this now (but don't forget that they did do it regarding some bugs), but it would be a welcomed change in the future.

    Construct 2 Steam version is not equal to releasing games on Steam. I linked those plugins for the latter case.

  • Yes, C2 should be more then capable to handle such projects on your machine. I'd suggest you give a free version a go, and create a benchmark for yourself to see how it fits your needs.

    I personally prefer Constructs eventing system.

    I think it comes down to personal preference, but I also found the event based visual programming method the most effective and practical one (I've tried node-based and block based as well).

    C2 Steam support works as far as I know, but you'll be better off using these plugins instead of the Experimental Greenworks Plugin:

    Do as Aphrodite suggested and try the free version. Ask the Community if you have any questions and see for yourself how helpful answers you'll get. One thing though: Use the version (and if you decide to do so, buy that one also) from this website, not the Steam version:

    glerikud Well it wasn't this morning They probably noticed by now. But the Yoyo Community is already discussing what they've seen on it. It was a Node based DnD System similiar to Unreal's Blueprint, but vertically aligned. There was also an option to turn the Nodes directly into GML scripts and edit them that way...

    Sounds interesting. I'm interested in what they manage to get out of it.
