• 3d Object texture maker(painter)

Lets you paint Textures onto your 3d models and save the texture.

    Uses ROJOhounds Texture Setter plugin.

    Files

    1, 3d model view

    2, Painting window(6 green squares)

    A: Top face

    B: Left face

    C: Right face

    D: Left face

    E: Back face

    F: Bottom face

Note, if you place the mouse over any of the green squares, the 3D object automatically rotates to correct face.

    3, Manualy adjust yaw(view)

    4, Manualy adjust pitch(view)

    5, Brush Colour picker

6, Save Texture ( you need to save the texture in the 'appath' where the 3d object is)

Limited and Very basic at the minute, you can only paint a cube, but i might add spheres..and other basic shapes.

    W.I.P

You will need Texture Setter plugin, and the Sprite button plugin to run the Cap.

    Forgot to mention'

To test your texture, put a copy the 'crates.obj' into your cap and import your new texture.

  • This link has good info about packaging games with DirectX:

    Thanks for the link/info

  • When I unrared it about a dozen files and folder got mixed with my stuff.

It so simple to just add the files to a folder and then zip the whole folder.

Regarding the exe not everyone has the sprite button plugin.

Sure, open source is good. But acctually beeing able using the application is better.

if a third party extension is used a exe file should always be included.

    That is common knowledge...

And my tone is not impolite. I do appreciate what chrisbobs is doing.

    --------------------------------------------------------

1, Create a destination folder before you unzip (its so simple)

2, Download the sprite button plugin.

3, The EXE is 4.3 meg, textures and other files 1.4 meg...packaged with cap would be over 7meg ? Not an option, nobody would download it!

4, Missed the common knowledge part.

    4, Its chrisbrobs, not chrisbobs.

If you want an EXE example, request one and i will make you one.

Now we have got that out of the way. Thanks for your interest !

  • I dont like EXE examples....Who does ?

I only create them if i think i might have a good idea......then i release the cap the next day because i realise its crap.

If you want an EXE just make one from my example.

  • Urled

It's an example .cap and associated files - what's wrong with that? And you can create a folder when unpacking.

I think it's very decent of chrisbrobs to share this with everyone.

    Urled

Does he mean create a contents folder inside the rar file or release it as an exe ?

  • Thanks fot the feedback...its getting there.

    ---------------------------------------------------

Urled...I dont understand what you mean?

  • Hrm. I'm not entirely sure what exactly this is then...? I get a starry background with a radar looking thing and some pattern. Which, by the way, all of them look good anyway.

Maybe it's my browser? I have Firefox 5.

    ----------------------------------------------------------

    Same here (Firefox6)

Just a screen.....wheres the guy in the helmet and the cockpit?

  • Latest version 1.1f 29/08/12

    See previous posts for instructions

Basically use arrow keys to select a new texture or image, click on the squares to apply/use the texture.

    Added:

    New textures.

    Improved interface

    WIP

    Download 1meg

  • By all means post it

    cap

    (using Yarfapets 3D python example)

I changed the layout and window to 800x600, so it might be a bit slower?

  • If anybody want's to test it, heres the installer:

    Link

Only works with the following system's:

    Windows XP with DX9.0C Installed(32 bit )

Windows must be on drive C.

I just tested it on a computer with a clean installation of XP/Construct r1.2 and it works ok.

    Only 2meg file size.

Note: If this breaks any laws, or any of the Scirra team are not happy with it, i will remove it from my Dropbox folder.

a "Small Installation Packages" silent install "Installation of DirectX by the Game's Installer" could be the best way to distribute cc game with directx in a legal way.

any good solution is welcome :p

    hf gl

    ---------------------------------------------------

Just checked the 'Small Installation Packages' web page,

"You can then distribute this package of files and launch DirectSetup in silent mode or run dxsetup.exe in the command shell in silent mode. Remember not to guard this package by any version checking of files, and make sure that your users cannot opt out of running the DirectX setup. Either of these events creates a fallible installation process"

Is this a sort of 'best practice' guide or is it a legal requirement?
