  • Hello again! I am trying to make a mechanic where people would be able to phase into walls and have to platform inside them to move around, and deactivate to go back into the normal map. I got this to work, but the CPU spikes when toggled. I have it set up like this:

You press CTRL, a canvas covering the map if filled with white, the block objects spawn eraser objects onto a canvas and are pasted into said canvas. The canvas then updates a mask and all blocks are made nonsolid. When going out the canvas clears to transparent and blocks are set to bounding box collision, pushing the player out.

I can see where this would cause problems, but how else could I go about doing this, in a more efficient manner?

  • Try running Debugger to see exactly what the problem is.

Try doing global('lives') instead of 'lives'.

Or does it work both ways?

  • Hello! In middle school, we had a 'Shut the Box' thing where you roll dice and sum the total on the dice, then you brought down the numbers on the top, that ranged from 1-9, that would equal to the total of the dice. You brought them down and could no longer use them, and repeated this process until all numbers were down.

I made the very same game in construct for fun. Took me like an hour to make overall. It plays fine and I have not run into errors.

I plan to make bigger games than this, but I am releasing this so I can stay more motivated on my projects, because most of the time I get bored or get a better idea, and abandon the project I am working on to work on the other idea. Hopefully I can make more short term projects like this and eventually get to the point where I can release updates after working on one thing for maybe a week or so, or something like that.

Thanks for playing! Hope to bring better games soon!

  • I didn't entirely comprehend your post, but an MMO plugin for construct? This kind of thing is insanely difficult. I highly doubt there is an online plugin ATM that could handle such a volume of players.

Good luck with your project though!

  • Another way to do this is have:

    +M pressed

    +Var = 0

    • >wait 10ms
    • >Var == 1

Vice versa for the second one.

Ashley's sounded fun though. I'm going to try it now!

  • Alright, I fixed the polygon artifact problem by always setting pitch to 90. (top of the sphere is perfect) I have decided to go to a different idea for a project that uses this distortion, then I will make something similar to what I had in mind.

Thanks for telling me about the eye distance. It wasn't the problem (more of multiple instances of the canvas on more than one face. I.e. All faces on a cube had player sprites.) but it might help in the future. ;)

  • Gah crap, I uploaded the wrong cap file (I have 5 backups)

I will update OP In a few minutes.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Hello again.

I am trying to make a game where you attack planets as a ship, and single handily conquer them, one by one. My problem is that the texture that is placed on the model is sometimes streched in certain positions, polygons poke through the sprites sometimes, and you can see through the object as if the front (where you can see) was transparent.

These are serious problems I cannot easily find solutions for. If anyone could help me, that would be great!

Here is the [UPDATED] cap: dl.dropbox.com/u/21499454/Games/wrongcapblargh.rar

    PLUGINS YOU WILL NEED:

    TextureSetter

    mousemov

    Thanks again!

  • How did you place the objects onto the model? I want to make something using this method!

  • Erm...I cant run any of them.

"Error loading 'APPBLOCK' (1813)" is the error I get on all three apps.

    Huh? :(

  • If you're going for top down, RTS is very good and easy to use. It finds the path automatically and collides with solid objects.

I use it for top-down AI and, in platforming games, flying AI. :)
