  • Don't think we can have a transparency before C2, on the other hand the layout object should work well... enough for this.

  • Time for a python object?

  • Well its not first person, and its not third person, but it is something no ones come up any ideas for.

  • I had a look at using Image Manipulator to set up a splitter, but it seems images are limited by my card to 4096x 150. That means the individual frames would be limited to about 43x43 pixels. I'm tempted to say it should be set to 32x32 for power of 2's sake. Lot less than I was hoping.

I'll do a bit more experimenting, but Image manipulator is cantankerous, and its doing some confusing things to image dimensions.

  • Um, all I get is a stick figure dropping down...???

    Edit:

Let me clear this up a bit. What I'm looking for is something similar to the Ghost shooter tut, but with the player always facing north. The camera would be behind the player just a bit, and all the objects, and backgrounds would rotate into view as the players angle changes.

  • Try Construct 3

Develop games in your browser. Powerful, performant & highly capable.

  • Just some more experimenting, but the question is how would you do a second person, or behind view type game where the camera is top down?

Off the top of my head I would probably say change the layer angle to the players angle, and then have the camera focus on player, but wow that can get pretty confusing with all the background rotation.

Any other thoughts on what you might do?

  • Yeah I see what you mean, but I don't think that going at it from the back end would ever do you any good. You would need an interpreter, for something that already is an interpenetration.

Beyond that, having the ability to "hack" the exe would be... lets just say scary for independent game developers.

Would it not be better to go at it from the front end, and wait for a cross platform compatible version of Construct?

  • Well why dont we start off a bit smaller. TOTD( Tip Of The Day) would be fairly easy to come up with if everyone contributes.

  • How'd you control them? With your tongue?

Me thinks the windshield washer fumes may have caused mass hallucinations.

  • [quote:2nsfl046]Which got me to thinking, since the wiki is in need of work (and once I find out WHY sourceforge isn't letting me sign up at all, I'll be having a go editing it too). Why couldn't we do some kind of difficulty scale type system? You find it often in other places, particularly those involved in teaching and tutorials.

Search the forum there's a thread about signing up to have access to edit the wiki.

[quote:2nsfl046]For example, and this is just a very basic example, to try get the idea across. Five stages of difficulty, from very easy, to very complicated. Maybe using nice pretty visual images or something. Each level of complexity would cover certain kinds of experience/knowledge and be explained in a linked page.

Actually I think this would be better related in terms of what the user is willing to learn. The stages could be anywhere from "Can I make games with this?", to " I'll have the red pill...THANK YOUUUU!".

  • Ahh, got it thanks!
